Now just make the SECt Champ the SEC Champ, getting rid of regular season champions, and everything is perfect.

I agree. The conference champion should be considered the team that gets the automatic bid to the big dance. There should be no such thing as a regular season champ.

Why would you want this? The SEC official championship has always been determined by regular season play and never the Tourney.

I can understand a Tennessee fan wanting an easier route to a title as the regular season best has been so hard for them to meet. However, a title for three or four games instead of 18 would demean the real purpose for playing a conference schedule.

I'm with Bert on this one.

Though I love the SECT and attend every year, I think the season title and the accomplishments over an 18 game run are far more meaningful that that 3 day span.

I like the choice also. What if they had chosen Birmingham, Alabama. OMG

Nashville has grown up to be a great city. It's new Convention Center and Country Music Hall of Fame sit side by side and add to the skyline of the city. The Bridgewater Arena seems to be pretty big to me but I am not a Kentucky fan. LOL

With all the music, resturants and bars, many fine hotels, geographic location, I think they have hit a home run. As for Nawlins, if I didn't feel like I was going to get hustled or shot, it would be alright.

Last but not least, my youngest daughter lives and works in Nashville. A great excuse to get to the tournament on a annual basis. Heck you might even get a glimpse of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban. LOL

Now get Billy and Gators there and the party is on all the way to the Tournament Title!

Agree 100% with BEH. Tourney preps all the teams for the Big Dance, & provides the bottom feeders one last ray of hope of being invited if they win.
Reg. season title trumps 3-4 game win streak at the end of the season.

Bert posted something that most people here agree with. Planets and stars have aligned. :)

Not sure I understand why you'd want to cheapen the regular season like that.

I'd like to see the site of the SEC tournament be contingent upon wherever an NCAA tournament sub-region, region, or Final Four site in the South is planned. We have a sub-region in Orlando in 2014...the SEC tournament should be in Orlando in 2014.

Let's give our conference a small advantage for advancing in the Big Dance.

I would rather see it rotate around more to ensure proximity for a greater portion of the fan bases.

If that is the case than it would probably be Nashville. The largest followings in the SEC are Kentucky (number 1), Tennessee (number 7) and Vandy (number 15). No other SEC team is in the top 30.

By far the three largest fan bases are near Nashville.

You know, after thinking about it, the title to this thread should read:

"Nashville, semi-permanent home of the SEC Tournament."

How did you determine this? By average home crowd attendance? Because I rarely have run into any Vandy or UT fans at SEC tourneys. Just because UT is able to put 30K in Thompson Bowling for a couple games due to the arena's size does not make them more prone to travel.

I googled NCAA basketball attendance and the first one I got was the 2012 attendance. I looked for SEC schools and those were the first three. It was average per game at home.

UT is usually in the top ten nationally. Thompson Boling now only seats a little over 20K after they reworked it.
