I agree with this though I think they are considering Christensen. I have read from a reliable source that he has been contacted and Muschamp even flew to Wyoming the other day (which I believe was to meet him, our commit from that state is very solid so I doubt he would fly there just to visit him). I think it's safe to say that he is not the top choice though as they would have already hired him by now since he is unemployed, but I hope we get him. He is very good and is a former long time OL coach as well....wouldn't hurt having 2 OL coaches around our OL...

Christensen and Norvell are my 1a and 1b. Unless we are waiting on Norvell, little disappointed we haven't sealed the deal with Christensen. Like him a lot more than other candidates like Helton.

That makes sense, and also makes me think that...

    1. Top choice is Norvell, but we need to wait until the conference championships are over to pursue (Frangie's opinion)
    2. Christensen is the next choice, but they need a back up plan in case he lands somewhere else while they pursue Norvell, which leads to
    3. Anderson, would be plan "C" in case the top 2 fall through

I hope that is what is going on. I would be happy with any of those hires, and ecstatic if we got option 1 or 2 on this list.

Is Anderson a better coach then Helton? If so, why?

Anderson is more seasoned as a play-caller in that he has more consecutive years leading into this season as a play-caller than Helton does, and attacks more (that's the big thing to me). His resume with UNC is more impressive than Helton's resume with Memphis and USC IMO. I am leary of coaches that were in offensive coordinator roles that deferred to the head coach when it came to play-calling. Before this year, that is what Helton did at USC. Supposedly he learned running concepts from Lane Kiffen while at USC, that he will be able to incorporate in the spread attack he used at Memphis. While that may seem exciting to some, it seems like more of an experiment to me.

Also, Anderson's scheme is more up-tempo, fast paced.

It seems that way on the order especially with Norvell as the top choice and word going around that they want to wait until the bowl season. He would be a very good OC. I wonder if he would leave his long time friend/HC. If he turns us down I'd imagine they quickly hire their second choice.

Also Dave Schramm from Fresno State has been contacted. I'd be thrilled if they hired him.

Norvel, Christensen. and Schramm would be my top choices. I'd prefer Christensen simply because I think he would stay here the longest. I get the feeling Norvel would leave after a season or 2.

Are we sure Anderson is the play caller and not Fedora? How similar is what Anderson runs at UNC to what Fedora fan at UF in 2004?

You have to know when to keep and change tempo. You cant go fast all the time. If Andersen cant change tempo I am not a fan. Gus understands tempo. And if we go to the spread we better have vertical throws. Spread is set up to make people cover the whole field. All these are reasons I would think Andersen is a back up plan

I like Christensen and Norvell as 1a and 1b. Question is... If it is Christensen, who coaches QB's?
Don't like the idea of OL coach being playcaller.
Another current coach would need to be let go.

You mad bro? No offense but That post came off a bit contentious, especially since this thread focused on the salary aspect which was fairly informative and had not been featured in any other OC thread. And honestly, does another thread really set you back or even inconvenience anyone in your preparation for the weekend? It's just another thread.... to click on it or not to click on it... that is the question. :)

Whoever they get, I hope he has some vertical in the pass game. Good D's will shut down the sideways stuff with solid tackling. Get's frustrating to watch.

I thought we threw well vertically this year with both Driskel and Murphy. It is kind of hard to make it a larger part of your passing game, though, when your offensive line is such a mess.

Who are you referring to as an OL coach calling plays--Christensen? If so, he has been calling plays for quite awhile. I don't have a huge problem with it.

On coaching quarterbacks, remember that White was a quarterback at Harvard and has coached quarterbacks in the past, so he could always take over those responsibilities if necessary.

The only game of Arizona St I've watched was UCLA and they were not that amazing, so I'll have to go by what you guys say to remain optimistic about Norvell if he is our guy

I know people have said Noel Mazzone is going to stay at UCLA because Mora is staying at UCLA but I would not count him out yet. If Mora gets an NFL job which is a real possibility I am sure Mazzone would be open to leaving again.

I doubt it but I hope you're right since it seems we want him, I wonder how much Hundley declaring for the draft would influence this.

Noel Mazzone is exactly the kind of guy Muschamp needs right now. He's a complete and proven OC that is also a very good QB coach. Something UF desperately needs also. It would be his offense day one.

But then who's to say he won't be offered the UCLA job if that were to happen?
