if that were true, (and the only place i EVER see it, is HERE,) i should be able to find some sort of rightwingy link complaining about men having to have maternity coverage. i can find links to everything else that the rightwing bitches about, but not that.

you hear, 'you get a plan that suits your needs', well, if maternity coverage doesn't fit your needs...what the hell?

Verti, whether they end up calling it "maternity coverage" or not, the premiums for males will be adjusted such that men are "covered" for maternity care. The entire plan behind the essential health care benefits is to enroll the masses and distribute the money so that certain groups aren't discriminated against on policy cost. Perhaps these links will help...

This is not even an argument, maternity is required and not an option under ACA and that information has been posted in this thread via healthcare.gov

    I'll take a shot -

Pre- ACA you had health insurance ratings based on Gender (Male/Female), Age, Smoker/etc.

The ACA ruled out the calculation of premiums based on Gender; so, men and women are rated the same; AND, men and women all have access to all the same benefits required under the ACA - of which maternity is one of those required benefits. Ergo: no distinction between male/female, certain benefits required (maternity being one) = all men have maternity coverage.

Not sure what is so hard about this.

"All private health insurance plans offered in the Marketplace will offer the same set of essential health benefits. These are services ALL PLANS must cover.

The essential health benefits include at least the following items and services:

•Ambulatory patient services (outpatient care you get without being admitted to a hospital)

    •Emergency services

    •Hospitalization (such as surgery)

•Maternity and newborn care (care before and after your baby is born)

•Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment (this includes counseling and psychotherapy)

    •Prescription drugs

•Rehabilitative and habilitative services and devices (services and devices to help people with injuries, disabilities, or chronic conditions gain or recover mental and physical skills)

    •Laboratory services

•Preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management

    •Pediatric services

Essential health benefits are MINIMUM requirements for ALL PLANS in the Marketplace. Plans MAY OFFER additional coverage. You will see exactly what each plan offers when you compare them side-by-side in the Marketplace."

Men don't have maternity coverage, that is absurd. The coverage is offered, but since men can't use it, they don't get it. You're all arguing with each other over nothing. What they do have is a plan that costs the same as a woman's regardless of what coverage they get. That is because women have babies and men don't, so men will pay for half of babies born, which if you're a Christian and care about people, is the right thing.

Since every baby requires a man to make and everyone should have health insurance, men will bear half the burden for health coverage for maternity regardless of whether they are actually involved in actively paying for it or not.

Talking in circles won't change the fact that men will be paying for maternity coverage. I'm a man. I don't have kids. I'll never have kids. I'll be paying my maternity premium for others.

yes, you have gotten that part. you're a man, therefore you will never have kids, which means you don't have maternity coverage.
policies costing the same? making a woman and a man's coverage equal in pricing? i think corp explained that perfectly.

It's really quite amazing you can read the black and white print from healthcare.gov and still not understand what it says it.
