As many of you know I've been highly critical and imo with merit. It is obvious that he is feeling his way at being a head coach. But I think last year forced him to do some deep soul searching, fear of being fired didn't hurt either in this soul searching. True he didn't fear immediate firing but if things didn't change, especially on the O side of the ball, being fired is a reality.
I think wm's exposure to nick saban, plus the success of bama, led him to believe that's the formula to winning, meaning power running controlled O with stifling D. He had a plan but the pieces at uf didn't fit that plan. But I'm taking him at his word that he will allow Roper to do his thing. (Seems NS is also reassessing style of O as well). I believe wm knows TOP as a focus just didn't work. The name of the game is scoring. It is almost impossible to win consistently by plodding your way down field without a bunch of big plays. I think he now recognizes this and this coming season we shall see (I hope).

WM is no stranger to adversity. Through overcoming lots of adversity he found his way to uga and played significant minutes. To say wm faced adversity at uf is an understatement. After a big season last year he was humbled this past year in a big way. I'd say right now just about half of gator nation has all but written him off. But, if you've ever watched the movie, "Cinderella Man" I bet you were rooting for the underdog. I have made a decision to root for the underdog and the rest of my posts will reflect that. I hope it all works out and if it doesn't then he was given an opportunity to succeed. I really believe he is passionate about getting the gators on top and will work non stop to do it. I think his rift with gator fans by some words and actions were the result of stress and spilt over frustration. I hope WM becomes the new Cinderella Man. Go Gators

Until we see improvement on the field, the perception remains. He has a lot of work to do this offseason.

It will take a super star athlete to pull him out of his dive. All the coaches and all the talk can not fix this program. It will take some serious recruiting because I do not see any super stars on our roster yet.

    Thank you for your honesty.
Now, in the same spirit, I hope everyone appreciates my honesty when I say not everyone is head coaching material. Although I am elated by the good news on the recruiting trail, I am also reminded that Coach Orgeron was one hell of a recruiter, just not a good head coach. So, even though we are seeing a lot of positive signs so far, the proof will be in the product on the field. Less three and outs on offense, fewer "aggressive" bonehead penalties, not taking timeouts right before telegraphing our trick plays, and not going for it on fourth down deep in our own end just to prove a point would all be more encouraging signs that our HC is, in fact, getting it. But yes, like you, I'm getting excited about the possibilities for next year. Let's hope it pans out.
Otherwise, if recruiting is all we're judging the guy on, let's make him recruiting coordinator and promote the Joker to HC.

Well, isn't it interesting that Saban and his padawan are making changes in their offense philosophy this off season?
There is no way for us to know how bad Pease's offense would have been without all of the injuries.
but we do know Will came in preaching a "pro style" Parcells type of scheme.
Then, in the pre season, Pease said "Why take a plane when you can take a bus".
Looks like we plan to fly next season.
    Hopefully First Class.

Who is NS and TPO? With this post being as long as it is, printing someone's name would not take that much longer. At least for the first time typed. Thanks :D

Well it didn't take long (1st post) to piss on the op's happy parade. :) I share the sentiment of the op. And you all are welcome to join our support group..... it's been a little empty since "the great 4 &8" (sarcasm)

But seriously, in the last 2 weeks we have landed a top de in Willis, flipped the nation's #11 player in tabor, flipped a top 3 dt in holley and flipped mr. Broward County class 8a, 7a,6 a player of the year in rb Brandon powell, from our rival too.

What does one have to do to get a little credit? I guess it is still great to be a 4 &8er. (That was for any nole trolls lurking) #GO GATORS

I have to disagree with this.....it will not take a super star athlete to pull him out of this dive. I think the hire of Kurt Roper is huge (the casual armchair quarterbacks may not think so). He scored points and won games with superstars like Braxton Deaver # 122 3*, Jamison Crowder# 80 3* and Brandon Braxton # 94 3 * and at QB Boone (2*) and Connette who were # 105 and # 62. I think what Roper inherits at Florida is much better than that.

The difference in the past two years and next year, is that Roper will put the ball in the hands of playmakers, use TE's and backs and his offenses do not feature one player, but many. I see DRob, Fullwood, Bailey, Pittman, Showers, Powell, Taylor, all thriving in his offense. They will move the football, move the chains, score points and allow the defense to create turnovers. It will be much easier to play from behind this coming year. 30 poinst a game will give the Gators a shot at the SEC title.

If the Gators would just scored as many points as offensive juggernauts Boston College, Miss. St., Ohio, Rice and Illinois last year they would have been 9-3 and maybe even better giving Vandy, Missouri and FSU a better game. I am very optimistic and very excited for next year.
