On the other end of the spectrum, goth superstar, former Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy in a recent live video performing with his son. Excellent live recording. Just missed PM last week in Chicago at the Double Door. Never seen him live. What a voice! Maybe one of the best in the biz.

I have satellite radio and I am usually listening to the 60's on six quietly in my office every am while I surf the various Gator sites and scan 4 or 5 different newspapers on line

No idea how I have missed this for so long. Listening to The Late Great Daniel Johnston. A double album of Daniel's music by him and covered by some really great artists. Despite the name of the album he is still alive and living in Texas. He is one messed up dude though. Check out the Documentary they did on him in 2005, The Devil and Daniel Johnston.

Treated myself to the annual all you can eat buffet that is the Pitchfork Music Festival. As usual, it was just a bit more than I could digest. I left ten minutes into Kendrick Lamar's headline set last night. He was good, but that was the third hip hop act of the day and more than anything, I was dead tired and my auditory nerves were just plain dead. Highlights of the weekend were Sharon Van Etten, Sun Kil Moon, Giorgio Moroder and Beck on Friday, Twin Peaks, Circulatory System, Cloud Nothings, Tune Yards (much more polished than two years ago), Danny Brown, St. Vincent and Neutral Milk Hotel on Saturday, DIIV (most impressive previously unknown act), Dum Dum Girls, Schoolboy Q, Real Estate, Grimes, Hudson Mohawke and Kendrick Lamar.

Can't pick an absolute favorite but I danced more and enjoyed myself most listening to Beck late Friday night and Grimes yesterday afternoon. Whether you like Beck or not, when you stand there and listen to him go through two decades worth of music, you realize what an incredibly versatile but consistently engaging and artist he is. I was surprised how much I enjoyed dancing to his stuff. Grimes is just delicious to look at and irresistible to listen to. I was too wasted two years ago to enjoy her, plus she was over wardrobed and had too much makeup on. Yesterday she was just Claire with two keyboards and a couple of dancers on stage with her. Didn't stop dancing from the beginning of the set until the end. Neither did anyone else.

Sounds like a damn good time strange.

I almost always feel the same way by the end of a festival and no matter how much I want to enjoy an act I find myself just not into it.

Glad you liked Beck, I saw him last year sometime and kind of felt the same way. I am not a huge fan but he impressed me a lot, not enough to see him again necessarily but really happy I did.

Your description of Grimes reminded me a lot of how I felt watching Ellie Goulding this year at Coachella. She looked like she was having as much fun as the audience. So, no matter what you think of her music it was refreshing to see a talented singer just rocking out and dancing for her entire set.

Funny that you commented. During Grimes' set, I was standing next to a couple of guys who had traveled from Las Vegas for the festival.

Nice, its good to know people out here still like good music amidst the over-saturated EDM scene we are stuck with.

Saw Beck in Nashville a couple of weeks ago and was pretty blown away. Best show I've seen so far this year.
