Dum Dum Girls. Love this band's sound. Dee Dee has some serious songwriting chops and a great voice, but I'm still waiting for the one killer LP. Terrific live band. Can't wait to see them again in July at Pitchfork.
Getting ready to see Bob Mould next month at Pritzker Pavilion. This will be the second time in a year, but he's played five or six shows in Chicago this year in every imaginable configuration, electric trio, acoustic solo performances plus an acoustic/electric combo with strings performance of Work Book in its entirety. One of the stoner cashiers at the local Whole Foods recently told me that Bob has been living in Chicago for most of this year, recording an elaborate new album. Not sure who he's working with. My guess would be Jeff Tweedy, only because I can't imagine Bob Mould getting along with Steve Albini and Tweedy is hot right now.
