Oh, yes! Even after putting Purifoy into kick return that injured him... he's our top safety coverage player... and even Boom put Patton after him. Nuts! Patton is our top receiver so why keep risking top players by putting them into kick returns. Not a smart move!

I don't see it....he played ok today...made a couple plays and he gets credit for winning an sec game, but UT is not good...maybe a kid who wasn't highly touted will ply with a chip and do well. Not rooting against him, hope in wrong but we are now 1 play from really being in trouble. UF should be better equipped at QB.

Good thing for us is our first elite SEC team is much later in the season.

All he needs to do is run the offense and be smart with the ball.

You forgot an important part of your equation:

He threw a pick-six to a non-elite SEC defense who is a walk-on freshman while breaking his leg at the same time.

Murphy has a pocket awareness that I just never saw out of Jeff. I feel bad for Driskel and hope he gets well, but Murphy is our guy.

UT OL gave their QB lots of time consistently? What game were you watching?

I'm LOLing at the posts I've read in the last couple of weeks from people curling up in the fetal position at the idea of Murphy getting into a game.

Murphy looked good - looked like he was a gamer. However it was UT and they were just as surprised as we were.

It seems like he can move, has an accurate arm, and good field awareness. He doesn't look as durable as Jeff though. Will we take away some of his running options to keep him healthy?

Well you should also be LOLing at the people who said that playcalling was the problem with our offense. Note to those fans: don't quit your day job.

I'm guessing that they are going to stay quiet on the subject for a bit.

I remember watching Murphy (two years ago) play well during the spring game. I noticed that he fell deep on the depth chart behind several quarterbacks. I'm glad this young man has weathered the storm an remained a Gator. He may be a gem for the gators. I pray that Driskell makes a healthy recovery. He is out for the season.

Yeah right. Like we're always behind all of our QBs.

The play calling was still weak. We are incredibly unbalanced and the most predictable team in football.

We just had better execution, combine that with the fact that UTs defense is really really really really bad, and things looked up.

Let's not forget Oregon put up 59 in three quarters. Tennessee sucks. The positive for us with Murphy is that our offense was somewhat productive against a terrible team rather than stinking up the koont

This. He made the pressure work to get to him, which is what Jeff was doing most of last year. But this season he seemed to park in the pocket, wasn't feeling the rush, and we suffered because of it.

I'm very optimistic about Tyler after today but the defense we played was not one of the better we'll see the next few weeks.

I'd still argue playcalling was an issue at times today. I don't think we attempted a pass the last ten minutes of the game, and it almost cost us big time. There were also drives where it was abundantly clear that all they wanted to do was give the ball back to Tennessee.

I mean, I get the sentiment. Defense (ours, particularly) wins games if you can control the ball. But statistics will show you that you put yourself at HUGE risk to turn it over on third and longs, which is often the result of being overly cautious on 1st and 2nd down.

One thing I will admit to is blaming Pease. It became very clear to me about halfway through the game that when Pease was actually in control of the playcalling and rhythm, the offense wasn't nearly as predictable.

No kidding. Easley was in there constantly. There really should be an IQ test administered before you are allowed to post here.

    Huh?
If he did this in the BCS Championship, would we get a do-over because of the injury?

Personally, I would've preferred he felt the rush like most QBs do and launch the ball 1 second earlier into the stands, avoiding the torque necessary to break said ankle.
