Agreed. I think we would have beaten Miami with Murphy.

Murphy played better than I thought he would with his limited snaps. He probably got a good bit of practice time last week with Jeff's knee but I wasn't expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. I'm not sure how far we can go with him but with our D, if he can just limit the mistakes we will be a tough out. I'm not sure what's going on with Jones but Brown looks a good bit better running the ball. Coach must feel the same looking at the number of carries Brown got.

Here we go. Didn't take long to write the guy off. I have a feeling he makes you choke on your words.

+1 on miami. Really, the differences between Jeff and Murphy were night and day,

Driskel just looked...stiff, for lack of a better word when he was in the pocket

He just looked a smart QB today. All we need is a game manager, and I think he can be more than that

Although I feel like this is a bit of mental masturbation, I will reluctantly agree.

Murphy is the MAN for us, I do really believe!

Look at his qb and rushing stats with no turnover against a sec defense (yes, it's Vols though). He moved the offense unlike anything we have seen in years except one Driskel playing well in last year match but Vols' defense was the worst last year.

Next game I think Murphy will play so it gives us another look at him as how he fares. If he continues playing well. I would say he's the man. Sorry about Driskel's injury.

Murphy was really remarkable... just what we needed after so long.

Granny said... we are better with Murphy.

One of the few times I agree with him. Murphy was accurate, quick release, and elusive. I feel for JD, hopefully he comes back strong at some point.

Also, the coaches seem to open it up a little more with Murphy in the game. Intuitively, I would have thought they would be more conservative with their backup in. IMO, this settles the question of why we have been so conservative on O

I feel better with Tyler back there than Jeff.

Until UT scored that last TD. Then they put the offense back into a shell

Smart. Elusive. Maybe he doesn't have a cannon arm, but guess what? AJ McCarron doesn't either. ;)

I just don't see how anybody can say with certainty that he can't beat an elite SEC team. That's pure bunk at this point.

Driskell had turned in to a turnover machine. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery. Let's see what Murph can do....

I think a lot of us do. The key is to say it in a way that doesn't disparage Jeff, especially given the news about his injury.

I think Jeff Driskel was playing hurt before today's game even started. The JD we saw this year between the one we saw last year was night and day. One was afraid to move around in the pocket, the other one was.

A lot of people (including myself, at times) blamed this on the coaches trying to mold him into a pocket passer. Looking at it now, I'm almost certain he was just playing on a bum leg.

Also want to say that I tend to agree with Danielson (rare for me) that purifoy should not be returning kicks for us. He's took good to be back there in that risky role. 2nd time he has been hurt on kickoff returns.

Put a return guy back there

Let's add to this. He threw a pick6 to a non-elite SEC defense, and to a member of that defense who is a walk-on freshman.

AZ and RS see no way FL can win without Driskel
