I Think the kids need to win a few games and earn the right to mix, match, change etc... Reward them with choice. Don't give it to them!! The theory of hedonistic adaptation applies to uniform style just like anything else.

I can't disagree with this at all. I like the idea of having the kids earn those opportunities. As long as they choose chrome helmets I say it's all good.

When I see a helmet that has different decals on each side, my OCD kicks in something horrible!

It seems to me the shade of orange is quite different when they wear it now versus the 80’s orange.

We don’t call him that we call him Coach Brando or Jor-El if we’re lucky.

I was told its the material that makes it look flat.

Remember the Blue in the 90's? I loved that Shiny Deep Blue on White.

Guys... the 80's helmets were just, "Competition Orange" with nothing mixed into it.
When the sun would hit them at a bad angle, they would looked washed out, sort of milky orange.
For the last 15 years, they have been mixing that Competition Orange with some blue metal flake to give the helmets some contrast and some glitz!
(this is true... actually got this from the Gators' Athletic Department about ten years ago.)

Very informative. In regards to the jerseys themselves, the newer ones look brighter (or possibly lighter shade). Of course, could be my aging eyes.

Will the Basketball Stuff be on the Football Jersey?

To me, Jordan needs a all sports logo.

    gnv,

Is that your Wire Fox Terrier? I always wanted one. As a kid I had a Smooth Haired Fox Terrier.

Just to clarify, the 80s and 90s helmets were molded using orange plastic (youth football helmets are still being done in this way). I have seen repaints on helmets from this era, using standard orange paint (on top of the orange shell) but I don't know if any of these made it on the field. The game used helmets I have and have seen were just plain orange plastic with no paint.

In the mid 2000s, with the advancement of paint/paint processes, all of the helmets were painted with the metallic flake and high gloss in house by Riddell. I have been told this is a multi step process (base orange coat with clear coat).

In case anyone is interested, here is Riddell's refurbishment process (simplified):

Look, I am tired of complimenting you on your dog gifs. I've done it five or six times already. Let's just stipulate that all your dog gifs are awesome, and move on. But that one of the dog running up the steps then going down the slide might be your GOAT so far. :)

Yep, you nailed it; we give Bama and Penn State too much credit for "remaining traditional." For them it's just a reverse-angle marketing gimmick at this point. It's like that saying, "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king." In the land of the gimmicky "alternate unis," the plain old nondescript uni stands out.
