Up to 4 in both BA and Perfect Game. Ahead of f$u in both.
The boys are playing great ball right now. Love it any time we're ahead of FSU, especially since they were so big headed about being #1 for as long as they were. Suck it FSU and GO GATORS!
Whoa! Good thread. Didn't realize we'd still move up given our mid-week difficulties. More than that haven't been watching the nolies, they go on a slide or something?
Rape-su also lost 2 out of 3 at home to UVA this weekend too.
Did I say, "Good"? Make that a "Great" thread; made me go over to the noles baseball site and I got to see their new (oh so fun) logo again. Thanks.
7-5 since we beat 'em the last time. That's 7-6 in their last 13.
Those doing the polls tend to look at weekenders more than mid-weeks. Plus in reality--what do we have 3 mid-week losses? Yes--last week was bad. But this team is doing very well!
The pollsters do ignore midweek losses to weak teams but strangely reward you for victories against strong teams.
Surely you are not considering FLORIDA when making that statement. FLORIDA was unranked prior to the first win over SWAC, and after going 1-2 in College Station, we were unranked again when we played them the following week. The next two times we beat them we followed those wins up with winning 3/3 at home against LSU (went from UR to #20) and 2/3 in Columbia (went from #25 to #18).
Weekends will get more play overall because those are going to be the arms you are counting on more in the postseason.
After the first few games had anyone told me we would be top 5 and in first place in the SEC, not only would I have told them they need to see a psych I would have probably lost a TON of money as well. Congrats guys to having the season you are having.
Not sure I follow. UF has historically never been punished for losing to FAMU type teams (UNF for example). Yet when UF beats the SWAC, it gets attention (in general though I am sure exceptions exist). Not sure why. If the loss doesn't count, the win shouldn't either. All a midweek win over the SWAC says is "Our number 4 is better than your number 4" and that will never be relevant as you say at the end of your post.
It is possible the "reward" is less than I am postulating above perhaps due to my memory biasing certain events. In which case, I understand your point.
