Stewart is a monster. Her and Lauren are going to be fun to watch next season.
Moultrie is the only player I know that could turn a bunt into an in the park HR. (With the help of at least one error) lol Still!
Props to Nevins for making it. She's a good pitcher.
Moultrie and Stewart starred in the game against Canada tonite (7/10). Moultrie singled and scored on a triple
for US 1st run. Stewart scored the last in a tremendous show of speed .... went 1st to 3rd on a ground out
to 3rd, then beat throw to home on subsequent squeeze play. US wins 5-3.
Stewart didn't start the game. She came in during the top of the 7th inning as a pinch runner then played the bottom of the inning on defense. The girl who started at 2nd base (Gibson) had two bad errors in the first 6 innings. She dropped a pop up on one play and had a terrible throw over the first baseman's head in another. Maybe she will start tonight's game, which is also televised on ESPN.
Yeah, Stewart made an immediate impact past night. That base running was great!
US run-ruled Japan tonite (7/11). Nothing special from our girls. Kelsey did start at 2B and played
very well all game, handling several chances flawlessly.
8-1 score forgot that.
7/12 : US beats Mexico 3-2 on Moultrie SF in bottom of 7th. Jackie Traina gave up two solo HR in top
of 7th to tie game. I think Jackie's arm is dead from all the work at Bama. Maybe not ......
7/12 2nd game : US run rules Chinese Taipei 14-0. Nothing special for our girls except an oddity ..... Kelsey
did not start but came in for Michele in Right Field.
Learned something ... international ball is heavier than NCAA ball. Analyst said it appears to be affecting
Traina. So what I speculated as dead arm above is more likely heavy ball.
Don't forget crow hoping. I believe it's legal in international ball.
That will help Sara Nevins who hops on every pitch.
Championship game: US 5 Canada 2. Nothing special from our girls. Kelsey started at 2B. Each scored
a run and Michele had an RBI double.
Nervous time with Canada's AB in bottom of 7th. Blown out call at 2B and warning track fly out. Different
outcomes in those two events and we lose 6-5..
True. But normally you don't pull your ace pitcher that's on fire. He wants his other pitchers to get in the mix as well. He's looking at the bigger picture. (Which I agree with) It's cost him twice though. (Kind of) We still won both, but it got pretty dicey, as you said.
But yeah, our pitchers behind Nevens were exposed in the last couple of games. One of them being the derailed J train. Guess the train is still in the shop getting fixed after Florida slapped her around. Lol!
I was totally baffled when he pulled Nevins. But I think you are right; he just wanted the other girls to get some work.
Plus he could bring Nevins back, which he did.
Yeah, international rules state that if you start the game, you can re enter. The other two pitchers, once they got pulled, they were done for the day.
Looking forward to their next tourney. I think it's in Canada. Hope it's televised.
