One thing to consider is that 4 star OT Jean Delance from Texas with be able to play this year so thats like a new recruit as well as 3 star DT Moran Dunlap from North Carolina. I think 5 star WR Grimes from OSU and 4 star Van Jefferson from Ole miss can play as well so thats like 4 more recruits that are probably not counted by these recruiting rankings. If those guys are counted in our class that might push us to a top 5 class. I think people were talking about Grimes and Jefferson because they have transfered recently, but I had forgotten about Delance and Dunlap. Maybe you guys were talking about them and I missed it.

I've always included them, for the simple reason that I have a very good memory, which is lacking in most people.

So, effectively a class of 22, due to the unfortunate loss of Randy Russell. And, according to my computations, if you include only Grimes and Jefferson, that makes this a class of 20, which would rank #3 behind only Georgia and OSU on 247's methods with 20 rather than their 26.

So, you can't complain about the recruiting, although 2 or 3 more would have been nice, but more than adequate for a transition year, and especially so given this year's early LOIs which reduced the number of high quality recruits available by about 75-80% compared with all earlier years.

Yep, but it really needed it's own thread!! :D

Are we the only school that gained a few transfers? Did any of the teams ahead of us in the rankings gain a transfer?

Also, the OL & DL transferred LAST year and were on LAST year's roster....which is why both will be able to play in 2018. If we want to play the "we should count transfers in our rankings" game, then those two count as part of the 2017 class.

Jefferson has been granted eligibility for the upcoming season. Grimes is still waiting to hear back from the NCAA. I think he'll be playing.

I did the calculations to include Jefferson and Grimes and were not close to top 5. I'll do it again with Dunlap and delance..I'll be back.

They couldn't play last year so they would have to be counted in this class which is the first year they can play.

    I subtracted Russell from our total and added;
    DeLance .9457
    Jefferson .9517
    Grimes .9806
    Dunlap .8331

Which brings our number to .9537

Do you think Delance should count towards THIS class?

Disagree. They were on last seasons roster. They played for the previous coach. They were on the 2017 team. If you want to cherry pick, I'm fine with that. Go ahead and bump Washington's class too, they added a 5-star transfer QB. There are plenty of schools who picked up transfers. If it makes you feel good, by all means...everybody should be happy!

Edit: Are we going to bump all recruiting classes who's school had transfers?

    2018 transfers:

    QB Shea Patterson to Michigan.

    Eason to Washington.

    Last year's transfers (2017):

5-star QB Jarred Stidham to Auburn.

5-star QB Kyle Allen to Houston.

4-star QB Will Grier to WV.

4-star QB Blake Barnett to Arizona State.

5-star QB Kyler Murray to Oklahoma.

5-star QB Max Browne to Pitt.

No. Just added him for the neck of it. Ive already recalculated to include Grimes and Jefferson in a couple different posts.

85-90 catches between the two hopefully. Add in another 40-45 for Cleveland and look out!! Gotta get a thrower first, I know I know.

And you are suggesting that Stidham had no effect on Auburn's team, right?

The reason highly ranked players are ranked high is because they frequently have immediate impact, like Hudson & 3Gor are this year with the basketball team, and Stidham did for Auburn, who, by the way, played By Far the most difficult football schedule of any team in the Universe, having 4 Games against playoff teams and 3 games against the 2 finalists, as well as playing the only Undefeated team, UCF - just joking here. Auburn was a different team at home than on the road, or at so-called Neutral sites.

Hell no I'm not saying that. Read the quoted part of my post. "Acegator" (and others) have continued to harp that WE should be able to count our transfers into our recruiting rankings, making our final ranking higher (or as good or better than other teams ahead of us). Yet, they don't want to consider that other programs get transfers too. So I pointed that out. Also, they want to cherry pick - as he says, (more or less) 'the OL and DL from last year couldn't play last year so they should count for this year's class'. WHAT??? Yeah, okay. Two kids on the 2017 roster should count in the 2018 rankings?? That's like those who kept wanting to defend the crap recruiting that McElwain and his lazy, sorry staff did by saying/implying that McElwain and Company could evaluate talent better than other coaching staffs (at our rivals) so that was how they justified our lower ranked players and class ranking - basically they said, "our 3 stars are as good as their 4-stars!" (and they were being serious!).

Bottom line, transfer don't and should not count towards a recruiting classes ranking. I am in favor of a re-ranking in the fall after we see who didn't qualify from the Dec/Feb signing periods.

Let me preface this by saying we're not comparing Apple's to Apple's here because DeLance and Dunlap have been in school for a bit but just for fun...and to upset @theghost here's my handiwork!

However, here's how the current top 6 looks:

    School signees Avg
    UGA 26 94.23
    OSU 26 94.29
    TEX 22 92.16
    USC 18 94.23
    PSU 23 91.70
    CLEM 17 93.44

    UF 22 95.37 (amazing #)
To obtain Ufs average I subtracted Randy Russell and added Delance, dunlap, jefferson and grimes.

Nice work Notorious! So with these 22 what is our class total value and how does that compare to the top 10?

    Thanks man.

    UGA. 323.31
    OSU. 317.06
    TEX. 300.06
    USC. 291.20
    PSU. 285.92
    CLEM. 283.67
    BAMA. 283.27
    MIAMI. 280.87
    OKLA. 275.97
    ND. 268.86

If we recalculate UFs 2018 recruiting class to include Jefferson (+24.55), DeLance (+2106), Grimes (+24.05) and Dunlap (+0.51) and subtract Randy Russell we come up with a total of= 325.46!!

I'm not a math major by any means as I graduated from UFs J school but regardless of our total number we have a very good class! I'm super pumped..
