We get a speed guy and someone says he is too small. We get a bigger guy and the same someone says he is too slow.

It takes a lot of different types to make up a team. And we need all we can get.

I love the way this class is shaping up!!!! Losing extremely talented kids to other schools is never fun (ex. cook), but look at what we are getting at what I believe are our real need positions along the lines! O line and D line help is coming!!! Depth and breadth of talent!! I love it!! If by some way Carter chooses UF , I would consider this class a great success! I don't care what the recruiting sites rank us.

I would love to see this guy in the slot. I have this fascination with UF developing a Wes Welker type reciever.

Your fantasy should be that UF develops a Tom Brady or Peyton Manning QB.

Good point, but we should start at home... Tebow, Leak and Weurffel all won more than Brady or Manning.

Zach A. had this to say in his recent Mail Stack:

"UF currently has 20 members in its 2014 class and 25 scholarships available. It doesn’t matter how many early enrollees get counted back toward the previous year. There’s only room for 25 signees.

I think athlete J.C. Jackson eventually decommits and offensive tackle Dontae Angus won’t qualify academically. His high school coach told me Angus may have to go to prep school, and he hasn’t heard from Florida since Tim Davis was fired on Dec. 1.

That would put the Gators at 18 commits, and right now I see them landing Jackson, Prince, Eric Lauderdale and another receiver, a second quarterback, a defensive end and one more surprise pledge.

That’s all for this week! Be sure to leave your questions for the next mailbag in the comment section below."

It sounds like there is a lot of talent out there for Muschamp and his people to go out and get. I've definitely noticed that Zach is becoming more open-minded and less of a homer when predicting who the Gators will land. I'm not sure if he was called out over on Gsports or not, but he doesn't quite put the positive spin on players like Lane and Cook that maybe he would have put on players Florida was recruiting a few years ago. He calls it like it is these days.

If Florida indeed does land Jackson, Prince, Lauderdale and the other prospects he speaks of, that would be an epic haul. I wouldn't even care where they put us rankings-wise; that would be an amazing collection of talent.

Peyton never beat us yet they won it all with the Team he left the very next year. Rather have another Danny or Tim as they have national title rings.

How about Miami. He flipped from them.
Willis is SSDE/DT. Doesn't have the speed off the edge to be a buck. But he can be an anchor.

I think it's interesting that you guys are disagreeing with my sentiments about our need for playmakers. I realize that JD was not the driving force behind our 11 win 2011 campaign. However, he showed a lot of ability executing an offense not suited to his strengths. I expect him to completely ball out this year in Roper's offense. What Florida has not had in recent years is a consistent, go to player when you absolutely need to pick up a first down or a player that can pick up yards and make plays happen based on sheer athletic ability. I'm not saying qb play isn't important, because we all know it is, but short of Tom Brady quarterbacks are generally limited by the talent around them.

Having those play makers is important and can definitely make a difference, but I think we do have guys, that although not at a Sammy Watkins level, can make plays and at least move the chains for us if our OL and QB play is consistent enough.

I think D-Rob will be one of those players when we get him coached up. We have a lot of talent at RB. Dunbar is a reliable receiver. We have some field stretchers with Debose and Thompson. We have quick players like Bailey who can run slot routes and reverses. And we appear to be bringing in some more guys like that who are very quick and good playing in space.

I think how well we do will come back primarily to OL and QB play. If we can get consistently effective play in those two position groups I think we have plenty of skill position talent to move the ball well and get it in the end zone.

It is all about the offensive line IMO.
