Some may say we backed into this Championship. Not me! We ended up with the most wins (49) in the country at this point and beat Tennessee two out of three times this year. Sounds like an earned championship to me!

    CONGRATULATIONS Gators, 2013 SEC Champions!

    Great job.

Though hopefully the SEC can get the scheduling rectified by next year. Let's face it, the Softball team this season basically got a UGa football schedule. No Bama, No Mizzou, No TAMU, no LSU..home to Vols and UGa.

By the way, reading the Missouri boards, the game isn't official yet - the league may have them pick it up from the bottom of the sixth when the two teams get to the tournament.

2 years ago, Bama backed into the reg season title the same way when UF had 4-5 games cancelled due to rain. It sucked back then, but what comes around...

Point is true, but you have the situation reversed. UF finished 21-7 and Bama 19-6.
Bama won on %. Would have happened again if Mizzou hadn't won.

Our SEC schedule may have not been the toughest, but the overall schedule was. RPI was second, I believe. I'd also like to point out that this team shouldn't even be in this position, considering what we lost in the last couple of years. This is absolutely amazing, for those of us that follow this team closely. I sound like a broken record but Tim is the best in the business.

EDIT: we played and beat Bama at their place. (it didn't count though)

To be correct, it was 'Bama that had games cancelled, 3 game series with UK in 2011, that allowed them to win by % points. Similar to UT's situation this year. Luckily with UT's two loses to Mizzou this weekend the loses finished equal this year and UF had more wins and therefore higher winning %.

I fully expected Mizzou to win at least one if not two, playing at home with their ace on the mound. However, I never thought they would win anything without her. Pretty surprising hitting performance by them.

With their ace on the mound Mizzou can beat anybody, but not a big fan of their game 3 strategy trying to hand the title to UT. Thankfully, UT couldn't seal the deal.

UF beat bama 8-3 in a non-conference game in Tuscaloosa.

UF lost to Mizzou 4-3 in a California tournament - non-conference game.

In football, bama plays UT and UK from the East. Anyone going to claim bama doesn't deserve to win the SEC for ducking UF, UGA, and USC?

There is no way that game is going to be finished during the SEC tournament. If so, UT should be required to make up the two rained out games with Arkansas.

A couple of years ago, UF baseball lost to FSU in Gainesville on a game shortened by time. It was a loss and never was made up.

My comment had nothing to do with the overall non-conf schedule and that we shouldn't be happy with what happened. I was making the simple point Florida caught a huge break with how the SEC set up this year's schedule just like Georgia has done in football the past 2 seasons. The higher-ups have to find a way to get a more balanced system with how to do the scheduling in the future. I'd be happy with cutting out some of those early tournaments especially ones like UF hosts to play everyone in the conference. Some of them could be those old mid-week 2 game series.

Those early tournaments aren't going anywhere. And they shouldn't. That's how softball is, tournaments, tournaments and more tournaments. I hear ya though.

Not sure you can say that Tennessee had a harder schedule than FLORIDA. FLORIDA went 7-2 (3 series wins) vs. the top 6 teams in the SEC Tournament while Tennessee went 5-5 (1 series win) against the top 6. Neither FLORIDA nor Tennessee would have been justified in complaining had either team not won the SEC. Both teams had it within reach before putting it the hands of the other.

Huh? Below is UT's SEC slate. I see 3 SEC losses in 6 SEC games against teams FL did not play in SEC games that actually counted. Sorry, say what you will. The true SEC schedules were not comparable.

    bama 2-1
    fla 1-2
    am 3-0
    ga 3-0
    au 3-0
    om 3-0
    ark 0-1, 2 rainouts
    miz 1-2

You misunderstand his post, which is correct. Top 6 seeds are uf, ut, Missouri, lsu, uga and Arkansas. Uf went 7-2 against them, ut went 5-5.

Again. They didn't play those top 6 teams an equal amount of times. Fuzzy numbers.

Just accept that the SEC did us a favor this year. It will all play out in the postseason anyways.

Agree to disagree then. The only advantage is in that they had to play Missouri and we didn't. If they had won the series against us then it would not have mattered that they lost the series to Missouri. Tennessee can blame it on the schedule if they want to, but they had a 3-0 lead on us going into the bottom of the 6th in the rubber game of our series, and they blew a 7-2 lead in the Missouri game despite the fact that they had not given up more than 7 runs all season...they gave up 12 in a matter of 3 innings. The fact is, Tennessee was going to find a way to lose, and I think they made that perfectly clear...comparable schedule or not.
