Scottie Wilbekin again played 38 minutes and double-duty (full-time PG and top defender) but had enough energy to lead the Gators to a tough 75-71 SEC road victory over the Ole Miss Rebels. Scottie led the Gators in scoring and assists with 18 points and 7 assists but also had an uncharacteristic 5 turnovers for a total value score of 76. Michael Frazier II scored 17 points with 3 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal and 3 turnovers for 61 value credits. Patric Young chipped in 12 points on 4/5 shooting and 4/4 from free throw line to go with his 5 rebounds and an assist for 58 value credits. Team Stats: Defense could not stop Marshall Henderson in the 1st half allowing him 22 points and 42 for the Rebels. In the 2nd half they shutout Henderson but could not contain junior Jarvis Summers who drove down the lane at will, finishing with 20 points. Offensively, the Gators were white hot shooting the 3 in the early 1st half but except for Scottie and Frazier II, struggled to shoot from the outside the rest of the game. The team also had an uncharacteristically high 14 turnovers. Overall, the game was as close statistically as the final score. Sound free throw shooting proved to be the difference as the Gators scored on 15/19 versus 9/11 for Mississippi. In the end, it counts as a solid SEC road victory, extending the Gators streak to a team record 19 wins in a row.
