Anyone catch the commentary in USA Today about Nebraska's program?
Seems fans are a little skeptical about Pelini's ability to get over the hump.
    This coming after yearly records of 9-4, 10-4, 10-4, 9-4 and 10-4.
Tell me if this sounds familiar in relation to our sentiment:

"The common perception about fans is that their happiness is related to wins and losses.
But it's really about trajectory.....fans aren't dumb, and no matter how a coach wants to
present his record, what truly matters is whether fans think the program is 'progressing'".

Author Dan Wolken goes on to list his 'Misery Index', a measurement of a fan base's knee-
jerk reaction to what it last saw.

Looks like our Gators made the Top 10 this week:

    1) Nebraska
    2) Texas
    3) Mississippi State
    4) Notre Dame
    5) Wisconsin
    6) Southern Cal
    7) Temple
    8) South Florida
    9) Kansas
    0) Florida

I'd be upset if I was a Nebraska fan because their defense has been god awful for much of Pelini's time there and he's supposed to be a defensive coach. At least our defensive coach produces great results on his specialty.

We are only miserable b/c our expectations were so high, as they always will be at UF...

UF played a decent team on the road, had 5 TOs and lost by one score...

Wiscy and ND also lost close games on the road to decent opponents...

Neb and Texas had total team collapses at home, they are justifiably miserable...

the differnce b/w Texas and Neb and the other 8 teams on there is exponential, its misleading to even put them on the same list...

If it's about trajectory, why would we rate poorly here?

    Wins:
    2010: 8
    2011: 7
    2012: 11

Some fans just love misery, they look for any reason to complain. I have been here for 13 years and have seen it. If we win 42-0 there will be fans that find things to gripe about.

That was my first thought too. I guess they're even worse than they're already low expectations?

    Not really.
Zooker's teams scored lots of points...remember?
But if this current offense even scored 35 against anyone with a pulse
I'd probably be drunk with happiness knowing that our defense is there.
The bigger question for intelligent fans is where the program is headed.

You can say not really, but that does not make it so....if people complain when you are in an SEC title game about the way you win then they will complain....

and 2008 folks bitched about the OC until he left then wondered how we would win without him--- folks wanted Tim benched in 2009 in favor of our future star Brantley.

According to our fans, the back ups for the Gators could whip anyone, the starters, not so much.

Yeah they did, one by user name was a premium member named HoosierGator-- folks agreed with him to the extent to put Tim in obvious runs and JB in on passes. (this actually started with Hoosier in 2008 but got legs with other posters in 2009 when we were struggling (without the OC that many complained about in 2008)

Does it seem fair to generalize fan opinion in aggregate by the outliers? I'm sure there's a person here who thinks Trey Burton should be coach but that isn't an indictment of Gator fans.
