When you go get gas in the next few days, thank your Dear Leader.

BAGHDAD (AP) — Sunni militants hung their black banners on watchtowers at Iraq's largest oil refinery, a witness said Thursday, suggesting an ever-increasing stranglehold on the vital facility by insurgents who have seized vast territories across the country's north. A top Iraqi security official and a militant fighting for control of the plant said the government still held it.

In the event "dear leader" asks for my advice, what should I tell him the all knowing dadx4 suggests we do about this?

And if it's not too much trouble, I suspect he'll probably want some more specifics than "don't offer any plan, just complain loudly about whatever we decide to do and proclaim loudly that you saw this coming only 10 years after everyone who said Iraq was a bad idea did."

    1. Call the white flag manufacturer and order more.
    2. trot out the new press secretary and blame bush
    3. Make sure details of his Vineyard vacation are ironed out
    4. Go get fitted for a new set of irons
    5. OK a new junket for Moochelle and the girls

Not that he needs your encouragement for any of these.

When it comes to the great American war machine, it's impossible to spend too much - just ask the "small government" crowd.

Really, not a single suggestion on what we should do about it (other than whine about whatever it is that we decide to do)?

I understand politicians being hesitant to publicly associate their names with the toxic (and down right moronic) idea that we could fix this all if only we decided it was time for our "every 10 years adventure in Iraq" again, but if you really think that "hey, ignore the fact that us invading last time is what made this possible in the first place, maybe us invading again will work better this time!" is sound policy, what's to stop our message board tough guys from coming out and saying it?

Most of the "self-described" libertarians on this board are anything but. Most of the "self-described" libertarians wanted nothing to do with Paul in the primaries, opting for less libertarian candidates.

I saw "black flag" and thought this might be a Henry Rollins thread. Just another dumb Iraq thread.

I consider myself a Libertarian but I thought Ron Paul was too drastic. If you draw down too fast you leave vacuums i.e. Iraq.

I also believe in supporting Israel. - OK I hear ya (Incoming!!!!)

I do like Rand Paul however and plan to vote for him.

But it cuts both ways. You Libs hate the Neo-Cons for going to war over oil yet you are against drilling, the Keystone Pipeline, fracking, nukes, and coal. You need to get prepared for $4 per gal gas. After $4 gas the economy almost stops.

Gas here is like $3.40 now, and its been higher. Another 60 cents and the economy "almost stops?" Since we don't have nuclear, natty gas or coal powered cars, I'm not sure what those things will do for gas prices.

Speak for yourself, my nuclear powered car gets 3,000 mpa. That's miles per atom

I forgot about my coal powered car too - aka my vintage 1854 caboose. Can't take it off the rails, but once it gets going, it does a good 25 miles per hour, if you have a good stoker.

Even if they did, they have to get the product to market too.
