When you are the queen of the king may as well live like one when you are on the taxpayers dime

"First Lady Michelle Obama won’t exactly be roughing it during her two-day trip to Ireland, reports the Washington Times.

Mrs. Obama is staying at a $3,300-per-night hotel suite in Dublin’s five-star Shelbourne hotel.

She and her entourage have booked 30 rooms in the hotel.

    Obnoxious.

Is it really any different than prior administrations though?

I am sure that our resident lefties will be here to tell us how this was
    1. necessary
    2. no big deal
    3. bush did it
    4. appropriate to send the right kind of message to foreign countries

All while the rest of the country deals with sequesters, low employment, higher taxes,...

Compared to a ranch in Texas, I would think so.

Michelles room had two guest rooms but booked the girls in two seperate rooms. Wonder why

"Michelle Obama's visit to Ireland is costing the US taxpayers $5 Million. Michelle's suite costs over $3000 a night. Want to know the kicker? Though her suite has two guest bedrooms, her daughters were booked their own room.

No. I would have preferred they just purchase this for her to stay in. It is for two entire nights, after all.

two wrongs do not make a right. if the american population has been too stupid/self involved/ or just apathetic not to care before that does not mean they should not care now. a big part of the problem is we seem stuck on the concept of the last guy / gal did it this way so that is acceptable practice. we need to break the mold and start over again

State trips are one thing, and all Presidents do them and need to do them as part of their jobs. But this constant traveling with Michelle, their kids, I bet mom's there, too; Secret Service assigned to each person, the assistants, the assistants of the assistants; stylists if any, etc -- it's too excessive and I'm pretty sure that Obama doesn't need to bring every single person on these trips.

It's one thing if every once in a while the family went - I mean, we're all parents. That'd be an incredible experience for those girls. But they shouldn't be getting their own rooms/suites, and it's happening constantly now. And when these girls travel, I would guess their tutors would be going, too, which means security for them as well.

It's too much from an administration which was supposedly for the "middle class".

If money doesn't buy happiness, I wonder if she would be happy in a $150 a night room?

I'm a mom with two kids. I'd be thrilled with a $90/night room if it meant peace and quite

If I know someone is buying my meal, I'd feel terrible ordering the most expensive on the menu especially if I knew that money was tight for them.

Even our lefties here surely have to admit--this chit is getting old. Every trip--always lavish and expensive. We are struggling here in the country and these trips are inexcusable...completely inexcusable.

Why can't they stay at the US Embassy? Are those the equivalent to a Motel 6?--not hardly. This is insane and has become status quo for our dirtbag pres. He spends and smirks the whole time....laughing at his loyal subjects.

Yep...motel 6. They'll leave the light on for her. And each daughter can have their own room. And they may not have bed bugs.

Compare this to Sarah Palin selling the governor's jet when she became Alaska's gov. She did not act like Queen Michelle. Sarah also dispensed with the cook & chauffeur. Too many politicians act like the royalty of the 17th century.
