I hope Graham's ankle is better, before anyone panics Brewer had mono to start the second NCAA championship season. Here is an excerpt of Chris Harry's report:

Ugh. I thought his test for mono clear? Fortunately, it is only October.

Damn. It would be tough to win in Wisconsin with Hill-Walker backcourt. And Graham as the backup to both? Or Billy Donovan??

Wasn't there some tweets from one of the players that DFS was capable of playing in the backcourt?

Billy said that DFS could play backup pg early in the season.

I believe it is mono. Relapse. Down goes Frazier. (Sorry, I know it is stale but I couldn't help it)

Young man needs to be given a good rest before getting him back into action.

In November 2006, Corey Brewer came down with Mono. He was thought to have the flu when he played against Western Kentucky and Kansas. On Nov 28, it was revealed that he had mono and was out indefinitely (at least one month). Two weeks later, on Dec 11, he was cleared to play again after missing 3 games. He had limited minutes his first game back, but played 33 minutes and scored 15 points on December 20 against Stetson.

Probably made the initial diagnosis on a "quick" test in the office. The final results require a blood test and take a few days because the blood must be sent out to a reference lab. The quick test is usually right, and that's probably why Frazier felt good about saying he didn't have it.

I had completely forgotten about that. Noah had a severe upper respiratory infection at the time, too, but not mono.

We're going to have a rocky start to the season, obviously.

rocky start may be an understatement. I wonder if we will be able to field a team at the start of the year if all of the suspensions, injuries and illnesses turn out to be true

To put things into context a little, I'd rather have the thousand paper cuts you guys are dealing with than one key guy being out for the year or something.

No doubt. And even if we give away a few early ones, which I suspect with games like @Wisconsin looming, they won't be SEC games, and NCAA seeding committee is believed to consider injuries when comparing team resumes.

That said, I'd still rather have all these guys around from the beginning.

We hopefully used up all the "out for the years" on the football team.

That's correct. Originally, I had misremembered that it was Noah with mono.

The word was that Brewer's return after 2-3 weeks was ahead of schedule, but that seems to be the case with anyone who is injured under Donovan, so it's hard to tell.

If Frazier is out for 2-3 weeks, that means he'd be back as early as Wisconsin playing limited minutes and going full time by MTSU. If he's out for a month, that means he's back for FSU. He'd have to really suffer a long while with this to not be 100% by conference play.

It also bears mentioning that Frazier's symptoms aren't new. Does that factor into the extent of recovery?
