Most stories about Mexico are bad around here. It's either immigration, guns, drugs or cartels as well as other stuff. So I figured some positive news is good for a change. Its cool to see them fighting back and trying to take Mexico back from the corrupt police, government and drug cartels.

Its mostly subtitles but worth the watch.

A question for everyone, should we be trying to arm these civilians (small arms) to try and cut down on the drug cartel members and help try to make Mexico a more stable country??

I think civilians fighting back is about the only way they are going to slow down the cartels and the corruption. However, I don't think we should be in the business of giving them weapons. We would only screw it up and give it to the wrong people.

Its certainly possible, my question to everyone would be, would you rather give weapons to Syrian Rebels (terrorists) or Mexican civilians to help stabilize Mexico? A more stable Mexico is good for America, no?

Giving weapons to syrian rebels is a horrible choice. At least giving weapons to Mexican civilians might work so the choice is easy.

The cartels will just take the weapons systems, et al, from the civilians and then behead them. Cartels are better equipped than the Federales and are led by the Colombian drug lords.

I know what you mean, but if our government gets involved they will give the guns to the police owned by the drug-cartels. I hope they (the Mexican rebels) take back their country and kill as many bad guys as is takes.

Wasn't fast and furious about the ATF allowing illegal purchases to track them?

How about legalizing the damn drugs? No, that would be too logical and non-violent. It would also put too many American federal agents and criminals out of work. Plus Mexican cartel members would be reduced to rolling people in bordertown brothels to make a living. So on with the killing and obscene profits.

How does legalizing the drugs have any sort of analogy to the Opium Wars?

They have no chance, but it's cute.

No, not at all. You have no idea who you are arming. If a government were arming our civilians what would you think?

Mexico runs on the rule of bribes, not law. The cartels laugh at the army and police and behead them routinely if they try to cause too much trouble. Govt. doesn't even try to solve rape, murder and kidnapping by the cartels. We have NO business intervening in that cesspool.
