As you know Will Grier plays for Davidson Day out of Charlotte, NC and they were playing Harrels Christian (Harrels, NC) last nite. I live in Wilmington which is an hour up the road and had to go check out our future qb. Let me just say...this kid is the real deal! Incredible arm strength, can make any throw. He also can scoot. Took one around the end for 95yds and ran past everyone! I got the chance to talk to his grandma and stepmom as well, nicest folks you'll ever meet. Also there was our OC Brent Pease. Funny, after that 95yd run I said to Brent as he was walking by "He's gonna look good in that Gator uniform" Brent turned and smiled and said "You damn right he is". That lead to about a 20 min convo I had with Pease. Really nice guy...and he did admit he made some shi#@y calls last week. Late in the game they pulled Will out and I was able to get in his ear and tell him good game. He turned and said thanks, I then asked for a Gator Chomp and right on que he smiled and gave it. I told him I was a diehard Gator and drove to watch him play. He told me to stick around after the game. I wondered what that was about, asking me to stick around. So I did and after the post game speech his dad gave in the back of the endzone he walked over, held out his hand and said he wanted to thank me for coming to watch him play. That was impressive I must say and leaves a permanent impression of what kind of kid he is with me. Most young guys with that much hype on em wouldn't do that. We got a good one folks, athlete and person. Just thought I'd share my story...Go Gators!

Good story, thanks for sharing. Though it grieves me to think of Davidson being part of Charlotte. When I was a kid, Charlotte seemed like a whole world away.

Know what you mean...I lived in Harrisburg for a bit but as you know when your talking about that area to a large audience you refer to Charlotte because people are familiar with it compared to the other smaller areas.

His pocket presence was great, he didn't seem to lock onto anyone and didn't take a sack all game. He threw great on the run and has a quick release. Knows when to take off with his legs when things collapsed around him. Also they have a WR #1 who I found out is going to Kansas St, he is a beast and Wills go to guy but I was impressed that he didn't force the ball to him, he threw around to all his guys. Seriously tho...that WR is legit. I think they called him Stevey Steve, don't know his last name.

Not sure how far...I thinks it's reasonable driving distance and you should consider going to check him out! Show him some Gator love!

Not knocking Driskell, but we all know his weaknesses and Will seems to be Anti-Driskell in those areas. Also, might add that the game got off to a slow start and you could tell Will likes to light up the scoreboard...before a series he summoned his offense around him and got into em pretty good! But in a very motivational way and I told my buddy "man that kid is a leader". After that, it was lights out for the other team

Here is his stats from last nite, copied from a local article:
Will Grier, Davidson Day: Completed 30-of-39 passes for 431 yards and seven touchdowns in a 64-14 win at Harrells’ Christian. Grier rushed eight times for 209 yards and two scores.

About 90 minutes. Just go to Winston-Salem and take I-40 West to I-77 South.

    Davidson is near exit 28.

Hey! Im in wilminton too...just north in Pender County...! Was the game at Harrells??? I commute to clinton every day and go right through there!
Also its fair to add that Harrells is not a very good football program.
But he did what you want against a weaker opponent...he chewed them up.
