good luck coach....hope Federhofer is able to come back and contribute this weekend.

Great article on the team and Shelton on Gatorzone. This years team really reminds me of the womens team the season before Embree and Will came in....a little shorthanded due to transfer and injury, but hanging in there. With the influx of talent next year I think they leap from a top 16 type program up to top 4-8......maybe better dependent upon how the freshmen perform. Got to think adding back an experienced Newman and Hidalgo plus improvement from the returning vets will make the team more formidable.

And host Ole Miss is out. Upset by #12 seed Bama. Somehow Ole Miss is ranked #6 nationally. That just makes no sense, but whatever the case, they are out.

As I recall Ole Miss lost their #1 player before the UF match....if he has been out then I'm guessing that has been a big reason for them struggling

He only missed the match with the Gators.

The league is brutal, though. Kentucky and miss state were they 8 and 9 seeds and they are ranked 11 and 9 nationally.

I got curious, you are partly correct. He came back in the next match but retired after losing the first set 0-6 vs South Carolina. Sat out their next match. A week later he was losing vs TAMU but match was not finished. Played vs Bama and lost.

Considering he was a pretty solid top 10 national player and hasn't won a match since March 24 I think that has been a factor in their demise.

My point was, only against Florida did everyone else have to move up. Whether he is healthy or not, their lineup has been unaffected by others having to move up outside the UF match. The match against Jackson State doesn't count, because I could have suited up and won against that team ;)

Gators are underway, up on all 3 doubles courts against that pesky Gamecock squad.

You are absolutely right about the impact on the rest of the lineup....other than UF those guys didn't have to move up a slot. But the 4-3 loss to Bama means his match "could" have been the difference. I agree that the TAMU loss probably would have gone the same way regardless.

Very impressive play at #1 doubles. Been tough on BVO but he has really stepped up last couple of weeks. Would be great to see him end his career on a really strong run

No Federhofer...probably not a bad idea, "should" be able to win wthout him today. But I think they need him down the line, make sure he gets healthy.

Good start on all courts except Watson at 5, who is down 0-3

Dang, didn't realize they changed the men's schedule and we've now got the morning match.

Looks like the guys are in control thus far though with doubles and 4 of the 5 completed first sets in singles. They really seem to be peaking at the right time, not that that should be surprising with Shelton's track record.

Piro wins at 1. Big win for him, another highly ranked opponent. And he did it with ease.

Diep a game away against his opponent, who beat him last time to clinch the win for USC.

Alford and Johnson are 2 games away.

Really good match today....of course as soon as I praised BVO he went in the tank and was the one match we looked to lose if completed
