40 mph gusts....yields doubles like Tosti' to close his 9
Orr has been steady after his triple. No panic.
Orr begins his back nine with a double!
Was looking at the course layout on google maps.....Purdue has 36 holes? 2 courses?
Core course bisected by a road. Cross it a couple of times each nine.
Purdue also has a horseshoe for a football stadium.
All finished with the front,
Zhang at -1 for the nine, Tosti's double his only blemish on a +2 side, 3 at +3.
Orr already +3 on his 2nd nine.
Gators +5 on the day, +8 for the tourney, 5 shots ahead of the Illini.
I think this is a Pete Dye course too.
I looked at some of the holes yesterday, 17 is just diabolical. Par three, that plays around the crest of a lake to the right so water in play on that side, raised green with a huge drop off back left, so you can't miss there either. after that fun, 18 is just a straight long uphill slog that has to be hard to finish on. 4 is the toughest hole on the front. Really nice course, and on a day like today it's just about survival.
Not looking good for us at the moment IMO. We are definitely going to need to close better than the last 2 days to have a chance.
Make that really not good as Horsfield triples 12. Gators now 2 outside the cut line.
Yeah, it's officially time to be concerned.
Purdue drops, Gators now (+14) 2 ahead of Purdue
St Mary's and Augusta are done, both at +21
Will take a pretty herculean finish to qualify at this point. Gators basically need to play the last 3 holes at even par. That's way better than they've played them the past 2 days and it seems the course it playing even tougher today.
Into the dreaded gauntlet of the finishing holes, slim one shot lead over Purdue, who's just about to finish.
Tosti with a birdie on 16, that's encouraging!
Neale has gone double / double, now counting Orr's card
you need to change your name to gatorbirdie real fast. Tosti just got a double gatorbogey.
Purdue is done at +18,
Gators one behind.....
purdue finished at +18.
Given the way we've finished the last 2 days, gators may end up dropping to 8th place.
we are almost toast. horsfield bogey. we are at +20
looks like another choke job. 1st lacrosse (6 of the remaining teams fla. beat already) now the golf team blows up on the final round. All this talk about Nc from our spring teams doesn't look so good.
Probable 8th place finish, possibly the worst round of the day.
No matter how you slice it, this is really, really disappointing considering the level of talent on this team.
