I know many of you do not like Holtz, but I think he is usually right (except when he is homering for ND or SC).

He said "I am really impressed with Murphy. He has something special."

I haven't watched much of the four letter network. What have other commentators said about him?

He may get SEC props this week.

According to ESPN Tyler Murphy had the second highest QBR rating in the country yesterday. On a scale of 0-100 with 50 being average Tyler had a 98.1. Thats beating all the QB's not only in the SEC but all around the nation that have been full time starters

May(e) said our task was harder now w/ TM. Said we knew what we had w/ JD. Which I think was worthless bec that's exactly the problem, we DIDN'T know what we had. Moot now.
    Havin a Guiness for Murphy!

Don't get me wrong, I thought Murphy played very well for the situation he was thrown into, but that QBR system is flawed. Murphy had a lot of errors yesterday, especially with the center/QB exchange, that he himself pointed out. That should get better with practice. I like a lot of what I saw in Murphy but let's not set him so far up on the pedestal that it will be hard for him to meet fans expectations. He did a good job and hopefully he keeps improving with more practice and playing time. I think we will be fine.

Most guys in his position would have a hard time handling the attention he'll get this week.

If he is sharp at UK that will tell us a lot.

I believe he actually said: "I am really impreshed with Murphy. He hash shomething schpecial."

I seriously can't believe he has a job w/ broadcasting. They should take the kung fu movie approach with him and have a voice dubbed over his.

Agreed, Fox. This game against Kentucky should tell us a lot about where we stand as a team.

I'm glad it's UK and not LSU, even if it doesn't tell us much, Murphy will get lots of reps during practice this week and during the game to gain experience.

While I agree with the evaluation of Kentucky there are some things that this game can show us:

    1) Execution: Both for TM and the rest of OL. Reduce penalties, make check downs, get plays off on time

    2) Reading defense: Can TM read and react with special emphasis on the latter since that was a major problem. Make a decision and allow your talent to give it a chance to succeed.

    3) Offense play calling: To what extent does our staff trust TM

Driskell has surprised me with how poorly he has played this year. Of course, he did recover from an operation during fall practice, so, that may be something of an excuse.

Murphy has been competitive since his 2nd year, and he showed why yesterday. But yes, it was far from a flawless performance.

Ya its Kentucky but if we can actually get a good passing game going it could mean good things because we struggle to pass even against the weaker teams in the past.

All we need is to execute to our personals potential on offense, I think Tyler will be able to do that, we will see obviously. Defense is our ticket to a good year, I thought 9-3 before Jeff went down and I still say 9-3, hope I am right..

If TM is calm and sharp next Saturday it will tell us a lot - no matter the opponent. He seems like he's got a good head on his shoulders. Handling success is sometimes harder than handling failure.

Hopefully coaches and players will rally around him and all elevate their games.

I think we'll know a lot more in two weeks. UT and UK are dismal defenses. I think he looked better than Jeff has looked this year, but I gotta see him against a defense with a pulse before definitively declaring the guy a star.

But I am excited. He looked good.

Scratch that, three weeks (although Arkansas is leaps and bounds better than either UK or UT on defense)

I'm trying to temper expectations too, but we only need him to be a game manager and not a star. Driskel was basically a game manager in two of our big wins last year (Scar and LSU).
