I'm sure they were falling all over themselves to get the story out as soon as they saw her picture.

The media as a whole is nothing more than a propaganda machine. It is imo run by leftest individuals. They will not correct, retract, it doesn't matter to them, the ends justify the means.

So you would prefer no media at all versus one that at the very least raises conversation? It is my lifelong belief that people will complain and love these stories all the way through until the next story comes along.

Might be an improvement. The newsman is not supposed to be the conversation starter. That's the poet's job. The newsman acting as poet is doing a great disservice to democracy. And this is not the sole domain of the left or right.

Problem is that in issues that we have deemed important such as the recent financial crisis it could be assumed that simply reporting "the banks are failing.....now on to the big art show that happened today and now we move on to a woman that was raped downtown. Thats your news, thank you.

My point being that while the media can be overzealous at times it is at the same time very informative.

Technology along with tight cost controls and laziness plus bias allows for a highly leveraged effect on information output. Lady shows a bigoted sign, and two or three iterations later, the Left is spinning it as evidence of racism. No time to check the facts, too busy to be bothered, whites are quite racists anyway and Viola! you have pure unadulterated crap...

This happens occasionally as someone will retweet an AP tweet and ADD some provocative angle (right OR left) and the next thing you know major news networks are proclaiming "sources from the Associated Press have learned that.....blah, blah...crap" because they have NOT done their due diligence in verifying the quote/tweet etc. and just ran with the fact that "AP" was associated with it. Prepare for more.

How about news being just that reporting news without their bias spin. Walter Cronkite was very liberal but seem for the most part to act unbiased and simply report the news. Now it seems news has an agenda.
