Hard to fathom how far UF has dropped...ranked 77th
    SEC -
    Bama #1
    UGA #5
    Vandy 14
    TAMU 16
    Arky 21
    So Car 23
    Aub 24
    LSU 25
    UK 34
    UT 43
    Missou 57
    Miss st 58
    Miss 70
    UF 77

    In state-
    UCF #5
    FSU 12
    UNF 50

And doesn't seem to be a fluky season. Were bad last year and prospects don't appear to bright for the future barring a surprising infusion of talent

I said it previously, anyone who has looked at recruiting the last few years could see this coming.
Can't see Buddy making it past this year.

Yeah, thought he might retire when his son graduated. He has had a great run and accomplished a lot, but the wheels are off right now.

Inconceivable to believe that UF is the worst golf team in the SEC

It really is crazy. No inside info, but there must be no recruiting efforts whatsoever. They have been lucky that some talent transferred in and had a few legacies in recent years, but they are at rock bottom right now.
Coach's comments after the last few tourneys have been pretty telling. No optimism at all, almost resignation at how bad things are.

I just hope the likely 14th place SEC finish and no Director's Cup points don't cripple us in the All Sports race. Maybe they could squeeze into 12th or 13th at the SEC tournament, but they did lose to both Ole Miss and Miss State this week. I don't think they could possibly qualify for NCAA regionals at this point unless they get the SEC auto bid.

One thing about golf, they could get hot for the SEC tourney...happens all the time where teams play well over their ranking. Don't imagine they can challenge for the title, but they could break into the top half of the field.

The course condition has really taken a nose dive (especially the greens which are horrendous). I haven't been to the other venues so in no position to rank them, but I have a hard time believing it compares favorably. Must be uncomfortable hosting tournaments as well.

The course surely is a very large factor when it comes to recruiting golfers (at least it would be for me). Probably more than other sports.

At least they did construct a new practice facility, although by the ranking maybe they've been barred.

Top golfer in 2015 committed to UF. Horsefield is his last name.

I agree, I would expect a retirement announcement sometime soon.

The signing class is high quality, but somewhat highlights what disappoints me. All 3 guys in this class are foreign talent that train in Florida based golf schools. How does UF not capitalize on this state being a golf mecca for national and international talent? Juniors come to this state for a reason, why don't college players do the same? Actually, based on rankings they do...at FSU, UCF, No Fl....just not the Gators lately.
But if they can get these guys to campus it's a good start. They are 2015 guys so maybe another lean year or two before there is an impact. No bigger Gator than Chris Dimarco, but his kid is going to Kentucky. Don't know if UF recruited him, but the Cats are ranked about 45 spots above UF, so maybe we should be following their lead.

Things should be looking much better very quickly with those three committed per the Golfweek article.
