His capture in the backyard boat (hey - I wonder if that guy got his boat replaced?) was three months ago already so if he has a visibly-injured jaw and bruising on his face, it wasn't from that. Somebody must've smacked him around a bit. I'm so terribly sorry for him. Not.

Actually he is in the same lockup with notorious Boston mobster James "Whitey" Bulger, whose murder trial is going on in the courtroom adjacent to where Tsarnaev appeared. The Boston federal courthouse must've been a media madhouse today.

LOL - maybe old Whitey has put out a jailhouse contract on this kid who attacked his beloved Boston.

"Anyone else"? Who was the first person? His crying sister? Even she probably thinks he's an a-hole. I bet she was crying just because she had to be there.

Jesus. Jennifer Michio's parents did a really, really bad job. "Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is Innocent," her shirt says. Yeah, okay.

Clearly she is not all together. However, I'm sure she appreciates the freedom she has to wear that shirt and spit in the face of the US government and our (her?) people. I'm positive she knows how quickly they'd arrest and shoot her in nearly all the Muslim countries if the roles were reversed. I also know she realizes how fortunate Tsarnaev is to get a fair trial here. I can see the God bless America smile on her face. :(

I don't feel "sorry" for him, but I'm assuming he's in isolation and its prison guards roughing him up. That's not necessarily "ok" either, unless he's being violent with them.

Not knowing how jails run, isn't there still contact with other guards during meals and such?

If its max security, you're pretty much in your cell alone, all the time. You get a meal through a crack in the door, occasional excercise (alone), and have little contact with anyone other than legal representation and prison guards.

As the son of a prison inspector (both fed and state), I can tell you that your response is a theory that is far from reality. Big gap is that the bomber needs medical care from his capture wounds.
