This has to be one of the silliest things you can do in college football, and I'm glad that they got burned on it today. How does that instruction come off from the coaching staff: "guys, if you think the other guy may have jumped off side, just stand still after the snap count...that way if you are wrong, the quarterback will have absolutely no protection and you will come across looking like idiots."

    Go GATORS!

I loved how Verne n Gary thought it was a trick play. No, just a retarded one.

It's stupid and makes no sense. FSU also does it.

It's really stupid and I don't know why teams do it.

Not sure allowing Powell, Easley, Morrison and Fowler come at your QB without any protection is smart any way you look at it! Definitely a stupid play.

I like it. It allows your QB ZERO protection on a free play. Stupid.

Such a high school play. Maybe Vol basketball runs the barking dog inbounds play this year too.

It's because the Coach thinks that if the OL doesn't move, it will exaggerate the DL jumping offsides, and force the ref to throw the penalty. Problem was, our DL got back onsides before the snap. It really makes no sense to give the DL a free shot at your QB for the possibility of a 5 yard penalty, and one day a QB is going to get crushed and injured. It seems like if you think you've got a free play, you might as well block for your QB and maybe the play will have a chance of working.

I've watched FSU do it for years and never understood what the logic might be. What you're saying makes a little sense. But, for the first time today it crossed my mind that maybe they think the defensive backs may relax and think the play is over. Seems like Hargreaves may have done just that momentarily before making a quick recovery to get back for what became a pass interference call on the WR against Hargeaves. That kid is GOOD!
