    I hope not! :ill:

I don't want to see any "silky" shorts either :awkward: :ninja:

BTW, a Kindle or a paperback will also fit in my extra cargo pockets, which often comes in handy for me.

Are silky shorts like basketball shorts? Because bro, there's some stories strippers will tell you about the guys who come into the club wearing basketball shorts.

I once spent three weeks drifting through the Grand Canyon. I could carry 16 beers in my cargo shorts and hoodie pocket. These are critical provisions for a side canyon bocce ball excursion.

    I owe much to cargos

Bathing suits. All the time. Seriously. Hear me out, however.

We're not talking speedos. The new brand of Walmart/Target bathing suits that are long (knee), are very light, and are one color with a white stipe or two....not the ones with shark pictures on them).

They double as Cargo as they have more than the two main pockets, but are awesome for everyday...

If I'm not at work, then it's bathing suits and tee shirts, and I'm 42.

And the older I get, the less I care about keeping up or impressing others.....comfort and functionality. I like Cargos as well, if I'm going to a restaurant that's a step up from bathing suits.

Now I do stay away from jorts.

Lets talk string bikinis. Why are we worried what guys wear to football games? Shouldn't we be more concerned about the females?

I'm in support of boy shorts, thongs, and string bikinis with nice butts.

    Thank you,
    Brad

I can honestly say I never owned a pair of cargo shorts. I have need for only 3 pockets, ever. Back pocket for wallet, front right pocket for keys, and front left for phone. That's it. I'm also not a fan of "shorts" that go down near your ankles. Those aren't shorts, they are high-waters. Now I'm also not a fan of those 70's, short-shorts a la John Stockton either, but shorts that hit an inch or 2 above the knees covers plenty, and are actually shorts.

I also have a bad left knee, and I know it is purely psychological, but if I'm wearing "shorts" and my knee is either covered by the shorts, or worse yet, the hem hits my knee every time I take a step, I swear my knee pain increases 10 fold. It drives me absolutely bonkers.

With today's fashion of shorts being 5 times too large and going down to the ankles, shopping for shorts has become a chore. Fortunately, Land's End sells real shorts for us old guys (I'm 40) with a 6" inseam online. Like I said, hits above the knees, and still covers plenty.

A 6" inseam would barely make it halfway down my thighs. Most cargos hit me at the top of the kneecap or just above, about how I like it. Plus, cargo pockets are handy for carrying extra mags, tac lights, and knives/multitools. Heck, even a mid size pistol

    Cargo shorts = man purse

I've got a crap load of them because I always have a phone, reading glasses, keys, wallet and a pocket knife with me. Because I don't want to scratch my phone or my glasses they need their own pockets. Cargo shorts RAWK!!! [IMG]

I still wear cargo shorts and yes I use the 'other' pockets, never have liked carrying keys, wallet, or anything else in my front pockets.
    Cargo pockets all the way!

So it's settled, then: All of us who are proud soldiers in the Cargo Shorts Army are NOT ready to surrender! The Fashion Police can bite our...umm...our 8" inseams!!

Glad we cleared that up. As the person who started the thread it falls on me to say:

Okay, that's enough talk about cargo shorts. :shhh:

Board shorts and hybrids are all I wear. Amphibious beats cargo anyday. :)

The only pants I have with cargo pockets are my rock climbing pants. Hip pockets are useless while wearing a climbing harness.

I wear what feels like it fits at the time and can hold stuff I carry. I could care less what some "stud fashion guy" thinks about what kind of shorts I wear. I don't want to spit my guts up thinking he is checking out my shorts.

For those looking for a great alternative to cargo shirts (which yes, are out of fashion), check out Polo. I found some great shorts that look better than their cargos but have the same length and same rugged look. They're hard to find but they're out there and come in a variety of colors.
