Agree with wgb on this.
The mindset of carte blanche on accountability will end up biting you in the a$$ not matter who you are.
He probably votes D, so everything is O.K. Sanders, being a Spurrier player , could vote R. There's the difference.
Have been done with the NFL for a couple years now. It's a dang shame, it was a big part of my childhood.
Yeah, on Sundays my life continues without ever a thought of football except how the Gators did the day before.
really pretty unbelievable.
As my friend Tony Saprano would say "the NFL is dead to me".
Continuing to cheer thugs on as long as they keep scoring touchdowns for your team is troubling proof of where the public's priorities lie. Everybody has a blind spot for their own team's miscreants. It's the same mindless crap you see in politics, only with 32 parties instead of 2.
Exhibit A on the nonchalant attitude in the NFL
Not defending the NFLs ruling here, but is it safe to assume you weren't cheering for our last two national championship teams under Meyer?
Punishment should be no different for hitting a woman as hitting a man.
As far as drugs, I think if the NFL didn't test for the non PEDs, you would have players smoking weed or cocaine etc right before games and could wind up hurting themselves physically. Bad for the player and bad for the NFL image.
Vikings special teams coach got three game suspension and re-education camp for homosexual remarks.
When pro athlete knocks a woman unconscious, you could probably justify an attempted murder charge.
Setting aside the moral/cultural concept that a man doesn't hit a woman, the physical differences between men and women, especially a pro athlete and a woman, warrant a different level of punishment.
The drug policy and suspensions is something that has been worked out between the players and the NFL in the CBA.
battery of a woman is not in the CBA so it is a judgement call by the commish.
Maybe the commish knocked out his wife first to try to get a feel for it before deciding on the punishment. "Nah, two games at the most."
Which I will add he has been very inconsistent on.
Just look at Roethlisberger- accusations that led to nothing not even an arrest- 6 games
Rice- proof and admittance with a court judgment- 2 games
Of course I was rooting for the team. I don't expect FSU fans to stop rooting for their team, either. But celebrating Winston the way they have is disgusting.
disagree with you on hitting a girl and a boy being the same, dramatically different beasts to me. I can't think of a good reason to KO a woman, let alone fiancé ? hitting a woman says a lot more about your impulse control ) lack of really) than getting into with a guy, imo. punishment should fit the crime, if smoking pot gets 4 games knocking out and dragging your fiancé through the halls should get a year or more.
Never hit a woman in my life or threatened to hit one in a serious tone. My dad told me when I started to get married if I couldn't live with her without putting my hands on her violently then I needed to leave. Told the same thing to my son. Have no sympathy for men who hit on women.
Didn't say it was. I said punishment should be no different. The minute we put women in some sort of protected class and treat them as an inferior human, that is the same minute they will become second class citizens. Same with other "minorities".
I will hit anyone, woman, child, man, etc in defense of myself or family. Women and children have done some pre5ty horrible things going back before Vietnam.
Now what Ray Rice did deserves more than 2. It deserves more than 2games if it were a man. But some of you men giving women a free pass just encourages bad behavior for all parties involved. I also don't think cop killers should get any worse punishment than a regular killer. Their lives aren't more valuable. Women's and minorities aren't either.
