We have a BIG problem. I don't know if it's Hardin, or the holder, or what, but we can't mix an assortment of FGs and extra points week in and out. He is only a frosh, but still...

We will lose at least one game from kicking if this keeps up.

What can we do about it?

Obviously, no on better is wearing orange and blue currently.

Can Coach open up a try-out for walk-ons, or is that not allowable once the season begins? If he can, I'd get every soccer player and kicker who wanted to be a Gator to give it a try.

There's just no way this is the best we can do.

As for PUNTING... gotta believe Christie will break through... still had a shank yesterday. How do you go from great to below average unless he's been injured and no one knows.

Found this article from March of this year -- http://www.football.com/en-us/gators-look-for-new-kicker/

Even then, Coach knew we had a BIG problem.

But problems exist to be solved, so let's fix this one, Gators!

Maybe someone from the girls soccer team could tryout.

Tryout would be a waste of time IMo. Hardin would beat anybody that tried out it is all mental with the kickers.

Anything outside of 40 yards should not be attempted. Either punt or go for it.

Yep - hold open tryouts. There's sure to be a diamond in the rough hanging out in the chemistry dept. or playing trombone in the band.

I would have benched Christie for the remained of the game after his shank punt. He needs something to jolt him back to reality.

This is what make sit so frustrating for coaching staffs. You can only keep one kicker on scholarship ordinarily and you have to rely on preferred walk-ons otherwise, praying with every ounce of you being that the kid you signed can do the job or you are on the hook for four years.

Our special teams are the worst part of the team.
Almost feel like every punt return will be muffed. PAT are always questionable.
Inconsistent punts. Bad kickoff returns, should have more touchbacks instead of running it out. I was watching our kick return and called that ark will probably try a surprised inside since our up men just start running back. To many fake field goals working etc.
    The list goes on.

Its like we don't practice ST

Stop running up the middle on 3rd and one when we are in field goal range is a fresh idea.

Perhaps we should call in Rene Russo and she could pull a Tin Cup!

i agree but i don't think they want to waste the redshirt on the freshman backup just to prove a point. i wonder if this new special teams coordinator has tried to tweek what he does. and why in the world did we even try the rugby style punt. we all know he can boom the ball so why try something stupid like that

In the history of football, it has happened, especially with kickers.

This, We got spoiled big time with Caleb.

Freshman kickers, unless they are super great, will struggle, reminds me of 1992, Bart Edmonson was a freshman, struggled, lost the job to Judd Davis who won awards, Edmonson came back as a jr and did great.

Honestly? I think we just all need to be patient for a little longer and stop trying to 'fix' everything.

Dare I say it but the mighty Caleb was only 22 of 30 kicking FG in his first college season as starter. No need to panic just yet. Austin is a RS freshman and Kyle will get his game back.

"We" can't fix anything. The coaches and the players will fix it in time. Our punter has had some issues but he can clear that up with a little practice. One good punt might jolt him back to the kicker he was last year. Place kicking is another story. Practice is one thing but kicking under game pressure is bother. Hardin will do just fine once he gets a little more experience. He has a big leg and just needs to get his confidence going!
