I would suspect 20K construction workers sitting on their arse would love a 2-3 year temporary job. Suspect you would not.

Worked at Carambola as it was being upgraded to Marriot...Christiansted had a cool Mexican restaurant downtown, the nastiest Wendy's ever and of course Kmart...not impressed with St.Croix. More impressed with Turks and Caicos, Grenadines, St.Lucia and in a much different way..the Maldives. Next up the Seychelles.

agree but if I build a resort/casino on any of those and make a buck, I have to give 40% plus to the gubmnt before I can spend any of it in the US. If I do it on St. Croix, I pay 10% and can bring it all to the US with no repatriation tax. Only US territory better for taxes is Northern Marianas. And I can't host an internet gambling site that can serve the US market out of the US or US territories either if the rules evolve as most industry insiders believe they will. Big $$$ to be had when that legislation gets done for those in a position to take advantage of it.

St. John is built out, St. Thomas is way overcrowded, and I can put a NY, Charlotte, or Miami resident at the blackjack table with a drink in their hand in 4 hours +/- from takeoff. Can't build 36 holes of golf on any of those either, maybe you could assemble enough in Grenandines. Can't do 1031 exchanges into those islands either and lots of expats like owning retirement/vacation property under US law so you don't have to deal with foreign legal systems.

intimigator, would love to visit the Maldives next summer...hook a brother up???

btw, the USVI pension fund now owns Carambola and it is up for sale. Originally one of the Rock resorts built by the Rockefellers

So I am getting into oil, if a state can pay its people every year after building an entire pipeline for a whopping 16 barrels!

I must admit that is funny.

I know that you are having some honest fun.

Correction: 16 BILLION barrels of oil.

How many jobs did cash for clunkers create? At what cost to the tax payer? Obama is just a terrible leader.

No, I'm sure they would love that job. I just understand the difference between temporary and permanent. Suspect you do not.

Usual liberal mind set-pay workers for years to be unemployed is good. Pay them to do something productive is not good. It really is a mental disorder. Suspect you may have it.

Yep, they want the U.S. tax-payers to pony-up one trillion dollars, and we did, for what? Zero permanent jobs. And not one of Obama's "shovel-ready job" was a private sector, revenue generating job... more temporary band-aide crap that didn't even last last past the election cycle.

The Leftists hypocrisy is mind numbing.

Dave, we need to get confirmation by the resident lib/obama suckups before we are allowed to state this item as fact.
