so did we lose fair and square, or did something shady happy?

Kevon said UCLA edged Tennessee in the final decision. Praised Bo Ryan and the Badgers for their effort. Said Bo was first to recruit him

Kevin Looney told me his son "fell in love with the Wooden aspect" of UCLA. Plus, it was 70 degrees on his visit

Kevon's mom thought he liked the coach, campus and climate of UCLA. ... Will post video shortly
No one posting on message boards will know this for sure, but unlike many decisions, this one leaves reason to be suspicious IMO. I always laugh at fan bases (my own included) when the "hey - this player didn't pick my school - that other team must have cheated!" chants start. But, UCLA has been the beneficiary of some head-scratchers lately.
Throw this decision under the many that prove some insiders are just guessing like the rest of us. Not too upset about this one. Glad we have Robinson!
I think this has a lot to do with their situation. It's a school with a decent amount of history, a solid fan base, good location, and can hand out PT like candy.
I think the media was just completely in the dark on this one.
He's going to be upset when he realizes Wooden isn't there anymore.
So are the Bruins fans. Alford, in my opinion, is a huge step down from Howland.
In the end, I agree with you. Just saying, had he picked Duke (unless he was a big jewelry guy or something), the same thought wouldn't have occurred to me.

So Looney has family out here that live in La Mirada the same city I live in and yesterday I was dropping off my son at school..

So a guy walks up to me an tells me "you don't think UCLA will get Looney?" My response it's possible he replies he's coming that my cousin.
He meant the paying players aspect of Wooden, not Wooden himself.
I dont follow bball recruiting that much and I think every top college bball team cheats in recruiting. That being said this just seems like a family that kept everything close to the vest. There was no high school or AAU coach to get inside info from.
California does have the weather in its favor.
Also, Westwood, where UCLA is located, is adjacent to Beverly Hills, and there are probably more hot women in that area than anywhere else on Earth due to the number of really good looking people who move to Los Angeles to get into acting (Even better than Iceland I understand). I have never seen that area's like, and I have lived all over the country and several different parts of the world.
Sour grapes rant - UCLA has kinda lost its luster imho, maybe even falling from elite program level. How much longer can they bask in accomplishments from 50 years ago?
they went to the final four 3 years in a row in 5 years ago
Well yeah, that's why it's sour grapes
Sam Gilbert was such a nice guy to the players.
Wooden was a cheater too.
Yeah, I'm with you, REM. I know UCLA has had some weird pickups lately -- especially given how bad they've been.
We were not even in the running
