    What is important to note is that the QB actually has time to throw the ball down field, unlike our QBs. It all starts with protection. The new OL hire may be more important than the OC, because if we don't get that straightened and those two guys on the same page, it doesn't matter if Don Coryelle himself coached the offense, we ain't goin' nowhere.

    I like Kerwins offense. But, he needs to prove it at a higher level. I cant put much stock into non-scholarship pioneer conference FCS football.

    How come folks that hate on Bell never clearly state your reasons for being against his hiring? You refer to him coaching at the FCS level as if he never called his own plays or acted as an offensive coordinator at the professional level. I know this has been asked in another thread, but as expected it was conveniently ignored.

    I don't have a preference one way or another but it would be nice if you could p0int to a relevant issue when considering an OC, such as problems with the offense he runs.

    I would bet 20 bucks to anyone that among active coaches in America KB has been at the position of QB for more plays than any other previous QB. Between 4 years at UF, nfl, canada, whatever has logged more plays at the position compared to any other potential candidate. Add all the plays he's called as a coach, he's pretty experienced. But instead we want to look at the next name, guru from high school etc to take over.WM will hire Mularkey any way. MM is a safe hire to hang your future at UF on.

    Auburn hired Gus and he had no head coach experience, well except for high school.

    I might owe you 20 bucks! But do you like my point, I mean he's a good coach right?

    With the fifth ranked offense. Now, if you're hiring an OC which is the important piece of information? There's only one right answer.

    If I am hiring an offensive coordinator, I would much rather hire a guy who ran the 1st ranked offense and has turned an Eastern Illinois team around from a 3-9 season to 7-5 and 11-1 and barely lost to Northern Illinois by 4. Had a team this year that produced 599 yds a game and 48 pts a game and his team is in the playoffs and the #2 seed. Watch them play Saturday at 2:00pm in the playoffs against Tennessee St. on ESPN3
    Yeah , he is not a Gator great, but I would rather have this guy running our offense. Talk about lack of experience, he has little in college football, but came from high school like Morris, Malzahn, Freeze and Briles. Pretty good company. Why not get the best. I would also rather have Kenny Edenfield than Kerwin. I love Kerwin, but head before heart.

    I don't disagree but I'm simply trying to interject a little rational and on point commentary on KB.

    Your first candidate sounds like a great HC choice to me.

    With this year's o-line, Bell would have been sacked for a safety.

    Which is another way of saying that IMO this season's struggles were less about the offensive scheme and more about our inability to run block or pass protect. Name any offense, name any HC or OC, but without much better blocking it would have all looked the same.

    Agree that this years problems were about OLine, but disagree on scheme. A spread or open offense is just that.... Spreads the field out including OL splits. The line can just chip and not have to hold blocks or power block perfectly to create seams. Qb and backs freeze linebackers, WR run quicker routes, tempo takes toll on DL and does not allow for fresh legs making OL job easier. Just my opinion.

    Nope. Bell played 9 seasons in the CFL, 2 in the NFL (w/ 1 game played), and one in WFL. Harbaugh played 14 in the NFL.

    This is simple folks.....don't know why Muschamp and everyone has to make it complicated. The season was lost because of POOR BLOCKING.

    [qote="InagaddavidaGator, post: 7065832, member: 5573"]5-6 record this year...at Jacksonville University.[/quote]

    I'm not sure I even get the point of this other than the obvious snark angle. Are you saying that JU is so vastly superior to the rest of the people in that division that they should go undefeated every year? And, that said, that Bell is underachieving?
