I hope not... Can't Americans still get executed for treason. The Muslim Brotherhood is a gang of terrorists. Yet Obama's in bed with them, and giving them money with which they can use to kill more people.

I bet if someone were to try they could dig up the stats of much money we've sent to Egypt over the last few decades. I'd bet they'd find out it was a pretty big number no matter who was in power here or there...but don't let that stand in the way of your outrage, it is Wednesday after all.

It was wrong then and it's wrong now. But, it's more than that The Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist organization the actively kills innocent men, women and children even today.

Not the same as the money we've sent to other countries before.

    Deflecting isn't an answer.

I figure if I deflect enough it'll soon be Thursday and you right-wingers will be onto the next faux outrage.

I think my concern would be not only the money given considering the current US economy, but that this much money (plus the jets/equipment listed in another thread) are being provided or were provided to the Brotherhood and in what had to have been a foreseeable coup. With that much instability, where is this going? Who is managing it? What budget are they balancing? The old government's? The new one's?

I would've ordered a freeze on everything until things stabilized enough to figure out who is calling the shots there.

And the US has ZERO business balancing another country's budget before our own, and I don't care who is in the White House.

No worries for you. No matter how many things there are to be outraged about, nobody is asking you to pull your head out of where it is so firmly and deeply planted. Carry on and see if you can squeeze that head in there a little further. :)

What I take from this is that Egypt can balance its budget with only $250 million. We could only dream...

Every party is corrupt... It's about time Americans realized this and stopped this pro democratic, pro republican crap.... Both parties send money, and aide to other countries that no American wants any part in helping.

We are buying influence in Egypt and have been for 30+ years. It is why Egypt has not gone to war with Israel again. For those who claim intense loyalty to Israel, this is in their national interest, and the amount - $1.5 billion a year? - is probably cheap compared to military and other costs associated with constant upheaval and wars in the region.

Buying influence is not giving money away or being a sucker.

Which would be a valid argument, I suppose, if there was a solid government in place whose viewpoint was understood on that particular subject matter. Right now, the US is just throwing money and weapons/equipment at a place and any number of people are playing catch to get it and use it how they see fit.

I doubt that any of us without insight into US communications with the Egyptian government and/or military know this. There is a reason this stuff is called diplomacy and why we as citizens are not privy to all information and shouldn't be. Morsi clearly responded quickly to American complaints about the attack on our embassy last Sept, indicating that he - even with his fundamentalist ideology - knew which side his bread was buttered on. The US side.

Isreal could turn Egypt into smoldering ash.
