Keith Stone Planning Florida, Alabama, South Carolina Visits

On Wednesday, Reggie Rankin of ESPN moved Keith Stone into the Top-100 rankings.

Rankin praised Stone’s blend of “size and skill,” with five schools still in contention to land his commitment.

That race started to take shape: The 6-foot-8 Deerfield Beach (FL) small forward will visit Florida on Aug. 23 and Alabama on Sept. 19. Stone also told SNY.tv on Thursday that he’s planning a trip to South Carolina “soon.”

Those three schools, VCU and Virginia Tech comprise his top five list — which Stone announced last week.

His schedule, though, begins with Florida. The Gators and Billy Donovan hold one of Stone’s favorite qualities. He wants a team that can make the NCAA Tournament during his time there.

“We’re going to take a little visit to Gainesville,” Stone said. “I just want to meet with the coach, see how the school looks, and take a look at the practice facilities.”

Fellow SEC school Alabama might give him an opportunity to play immediately. Several of its best players are graduating after the season, leaving coach Anthony Grant to find key replacements. Stone said he could earn “major minutes” there.

One logical program fit might also be VCU. Shaka Smart has made his team into a perennial tourney threat, and Stone said he likes the system.

“Coach Shaka said he loves how I play defense and how I stretch the floor,” Stone said. “I like their style — trapping the ball and pressing.”

Fit, contender, playing time: If one of those five schools impresses Stone in those areas, it would stand a great chance of adding top-100 talent.

I have only heard what has been posted on here. It seems that hoopstar thinks he will be eligible to play this year, just may not get his transcript issues cleared up until fall or closer to the season.

Personally, I would prefer to use my 5 lb axe, which is razor sharp and cuts through oak quite well. Alternatively, I would prefer using one of my 1880 Samuri swords, although my also sharp Bowie knife would probably serve well enough for beheading NCAA idiots.

It's spelled "Samurai" and the swords they used were the "Katana," which is the long sword and the primary weapon and the "Wakizashi," the short sword. All I have are wooden and bamboo swords. If this thing doesn't go well, I wouldn't mind borrowing one of yours. I promise to get all the blood off before returning it.

I always flunked spelling. Both of mine are razor sharp after having sit around in their sheaths for about 40 years. They are amazingly well balanced also, but are not from a master swordmaker, but rather from on in the Northern Provinces, thus, despite their antiquity they are each worth only about $1,000.

If you clean the blood that would be good. I also have a razor sharp 5 lb axe and a razor sharp pickaxe, either of which could be used quite effectively (ask the Vikings after all).

I also have some very nice long Knives, although, unfortunately, our Birkibiner Kniven (spelling) was stolen a while ago.

Despite what has been reported, Francis is not NCAA cleared...UF has cleared him, not the NCAA...again I know what has been reported, just telling you what I know to be true

I don't think we should be holding our breath on NCAA for Brandon. I hear his situation is somewhat bleak.

I hope it is more of a question of when Francis plays for UF rather than if...

I would prefere to battle UK and KU for kids not Vt or VCU. I think we have elevated our program .
