UF is the only program to finish among the nation’s top 10 in each of the last 33 national all-sports standings.

UF student-athletes have earned a total of 97 Academic All-America honors since 1992.

UF is the only SEC school to place 100 or more student-athletes on the academic honor roll each of the last 16 years.

    Top Public Schools National Universities
    University of Florida
    Gainesville, FL
#9 in Top Public Schools (tie)
    #42 in National Universities (tie)

The University of Florida is about two miles away from downtown Gainesville, a college town bolstered by the school’s more than 50,000 students. The Florida Gators sports teams compete in the NCAA Division I Southeastern Conference, and are supported by mascots Albert and Alberta the Alligators. The Gator football team, which competes in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium – commonly called the "The Swamp" – is particularly notorious. The team became the namesake of popular sports drink Gatorade in 1965, after freshmen Gators participated in an experiment with the novel beverage. The annual Gator Growl, held each Homecoming weekend, has been called the largest student-run pep rally in the nation. More than 20 percent of students are involved in the school’s 60-plus fraternities and sororities. Freshmen do not have to live on campus, though more than 75 percent opt to do so. All students can partake in Gator Nights, held every Friday, which offer free late-night entertainment and a midnight breakfast.

It's almost criminal that Vanderbilt doesn't compete in volleyball or softball. They certainly have the resources.

UF spring sports teams are just incredible. Under-appreciated.

Before today, no person had ever swam the 50 free in under 18 seconds.
Florida's Caeleb Dressel just did it TWICE! (17.81, 17.63)
    8:55 PM - Mar 22, 2018

Caeleb Dressel made a splash even by his lofty standards Thursday night at the NCAA Championships, becoming the first person to finish the 50-yard free in less than 18 seconds.

Gators senior Caeleb Dressel not only became the first male to win the 50-yard free national title four times, he blew away the field.
