Men's baseball ranked #1 too.
That's six UF athletics teams ranked top 5.
All the preseason polls have Gator Baseball #1
(Jordan McPherson/SEC Country)
I would imagine softball is also top 5. That list was in season teams. And both softball and baseball are technically pre-season at this point.
Gators voted preseason SEC softball favorites
That last game for the Gator softball team was so tough.
You can't come closer to another national championship than we did last season but #2 still sucks!
Gymnastics has to move up after beating Oklahoma!!
the scores at UF/OU were the top scores for the team rated in the top 11 going into the weekend meets since the rankings are on your average we should move up from 5 but not catch OU
Can we please get some more Natty's out of all this Big Mo?
I don't enjoy looking up at Arkansas and LSU.
Esp when the Pigs have only 2 women's titles.
The vast majority of those 2 schools nat champs are in one sport. Women's track (indoor and outdoor) for LSU (25 of their 43) and men's track (indoor and outdoor) and CC for Arky (41 of their 44). So I don't really think of them as being ahead of us even though technically they are. They are also both counting indoor and outdoor track as 2 separate nat champs, which I think is bogus.
Will Gator Football ever be ranked #1 again. Of course, preseason rankings are fairly meaningless, nonetheless, those mid schedule rankings are impressive.
It certainly is great to be a Florida Gator.
Funny how people claim the same thing about the PAC-12's elite group (Stanford, UCLA & USC).
I don't care if all their titles came from underwater wrist wrestling....they still count as Natty's.
And "Bogus" isn't an asterisk listed next to their championships.
They (being those 3 you mentioned) do have way more "legit" nat champs than us. Counting indoor and outdoor track as 2 nat champs is considered "bogus" by more than just me. But believe whatever you want to believe. It's a free country. By the way, 34 of OSU's 51 nat champs are in a sport we haven't competed in since the 70's and I don't believe any SEC school competes in - rasslin. About 15 of PSU's titles are in fencing.
Whodathunk Mississippi State football would EVUH be ranked #1 ??
Disagree on the two separate track titles being bogus. We count both in our numbers. And while some events are the same others are very different as is the preparation for the meets.
Missouri still competes in wrestling. That is left over from their b-12 days. They compete in the MAC.
Same athletes basically though.
