I'm just glad that we are on the receiving end of these transfers, because it was getting ugly between 08 and 10

We've ended the last four seasons as one of the eight best teams in the country (based on tourney results). I imagine it is good publicity for transfers. Horford is in a great position being able to play right away at a position of need IMO. We've been great defensively in the post for the past two years, but offensively we've been challenged. I am not sure what we will get our of Harris or Murphy, and I never count on incoming freshmen. So the more choices Billy has, the better. I think this move really helps our team, and I think we have a chance to be really good again.

Very unlikely any quality bigs that we're in on are going to wait until next April to see who leaves early. 2015 bigman recruiting is tricky because of the abundance of high caliber 2016 bigs we're in on. We have legit shots at 2-3 top bigs (particularly Durham and Azubuike), we want to keep ships open for those guys.

Not only those annual results, but when it comes to preparing big men for the NBA, Billy's got a pretty impressive track record.

Just a glance at the Gator/NBA roster shows some pretty convincing results...

    Matt Bonner - 6'10" - 9 years
    Corey Brewer - 6'9" - 6 years
    Udonis Haslem - 6'8" - 10 years
    Al Horford - 6'10" - 6 years
    David Lee - 6'9" - 8 years
    Mike Miller - 6'8" - 13 years
    Erik Murphy - 6'10" - Rookie
    Joakim Noah - 6'11" - 6 years
    Chandler Parsons - 6'9" - 2 years
    Marreese Speights - 6'10" - 5 years

Actually most of the Michigan fans i saw were questioning what he brings to us since we prospective will have a lot of depth and talent in our front court without him. There were only a couple of posters on the sight I visited that sounded bitter the rest were pretty constructive in their assessment and criticisms which makes me ask the more knowledgeable posters here what are we expecting from him?

A few mentioned he may blossom in a different system more suited for him but wondered how much a senior transfer could really improve otherwise. seems to be a fair question.

Yeah, but Osiris, recall how many times over the past 3-4 years, the Gators have had very legitimate shots are multiple bigs, yet, really other than Chris Walker and Patric Young, have struck out on all of the Freshmen. And Chris Walker played an average of less than 5 minutes per game this year.

Honestly, I do not favor keeping multiple ships open at FP/C for the simple reason that the Gators have done so well with PF/C transfers that this simply doesn't appear like a very wise move to me.

I don't have intel but I base my concern from past action. Not sure that can be classified as negative but it could slip in the " fact" category. Because you are sure he is going to be there I appreciate your positive and uplifting thoughts.

This is different for several different reasons. I'm a little closer to this situation, but I like where we stand on these kids. Also, Durham is a much different player than Walker. He's been training with Teddy Dupay since 7th grade and has a highly polished offensive repertoire. He will play solid minutes from day 1.

Umm, yes I am, can you believe it?!? I am questioning your post that "Harris is 50/50 at best." I asked you to provide your source for such a definitive statement. There is nothing to indicate that Harris is anything but remorseful and working his way back. He was playing as a member of the scout team since January and we've heard absolutely nothing to indicate that he isn't a full member of the team this summer and beyond.
So...do you have a real reason to have said that, or are you just being your usual absurdly pessimistic self?

I bow to your knowledge Osiris. That kid would therefore be a terrific get.
