Well, if Harris does backslide again on the rules, at least now the Gators will have a physically mature fifth-year player to help guard the basket, as opposed to at best a physically undeveloped late freshman recruit.

Unless he dramatically improves his ballhandling, Devon Walker just isn't going to play point guard, except in an emergency (injuries, foul trouble, suspensions, etc.). He does a very good job defending on the perimeter, however.

And of course the Michigan fans have begun their "He wasn't good anyway" campaign. I think he will add some good depth and experience to this team.

Right on. There are six players who will suit up next year that haven't played in a game for the Gators, plus Carter (who played a few minutes early on), and Graham (who was out all year on injury). Only three are freshmen. It'll be hard to replace the four seniors, but with the returning players and the eight players mentioned above, we've got a lot of options.

Glad to have Horford for next season's run, but if Chris Walker progresses as expected, we are going to be pretty undersized the following year.

There are so many kids transferring that I imagine between recruiting and that, we'll be fine.

Thats what you guys were saying about this coming year at one point. Doesn't it seem like Billy has a tendency to work this stuff out despite the worrying?

    REMO8....
That is exactly right. We were worried about the lack of height for 2014-15.
But it seems that some really great basketball players want to continue to come and play for Billy.
It should be interesting to see how this year's season pans out.
We gotta bunch of great, experienced guards in Frazier and Carter to go along with all of the new height.
Let's hope that Harris gets his act together and parlays this year as his, "money year" with the draft.
One would think that if can make decent grades, attend class and not get into trouble, that he will capitalize all of that into a big fat paycheck next Spring. Come on Harris!

There was a time not long ago that Dan Werner was our starting PF and Alex Tyus was our starting C. That may be the source of the worry for some people. Roster management takes a lot of foresight, a lot of diligence, and even more luck. We've had a lot of each lately. Fans will never stop worrying. UK fans were sweating the Harrisons returning this year, and worried about depth if Noel got injured, etc. Happens in every fanbase.

We have learned how difficult it is for a freshman to have an impact in Donovan's scheme over the last few years even for a big man, and who is to say how long the window for graduating players to immediately transfer will remain open. If C Walker, Harris and Horford all leave, we'll have more talent than the Werner/Tyus combination in Finney-Smith (unless he goes early) and Murphy, but still we will be pretty undersized

We already have a 6'8 PF committed in Kevarrius Hayes and will be looking to add more kids in that class. Horford and Harris are both seniors and will obviously be gone, and Walker will likely be gone as well, so Billy will have a massive amount of playing time to sell to 2015 recruits and we will get some very highly rated freshmen big men for the 2015-16 season.

Makes sense Brad. I'm one of the posters that was a bit traumatized after the 04's left and our recruiting struggles to
bring big's in or keep the ones we had in school. Clearly Billy gas built it back up and transfers have really helped.
Looking at the board we have some nice prospects up there many of which are in state. I'm hoping Billy gets his share.

I think we get another 5th year transfer next year as well. We are in for a lot of good HS recruits, but you don't want to have to depend on a freshmen. It could work out if we get a one-and-done type.

No worries. With the consistent ,track record of success shown by Florida over the years, the Gators could offer immediate playing time to the top recruits that would still be out there:
i.e, Noah Dickerson, Alex Owens, etc.

Btw, Billy already locked up C 6'9 205 Kevarrius Hayes for the 2015 class & PF 6'8 220 John Mooney for the 2016 class.

I think the problems with a quality big man after the 04s left can be laid on Billy, but not for recruitment planning. If Billy doesn't flirt with Orlando, Patrick Patterson most likely comes to UF. That would have made a world of difference.

Or if Speights stayed an extra year like expected. Our 2009 squad would have been pretty good with Speights. Could slide Tyus to the 4, etc.

    He does or he doesn't. That's 50-50.

Patrick's mom cared that much about it? I don't think so.
