That's great news. Florida could use another banger in the post who also has previous ncaa experience with the Michigan Wolverines!

It will be interesting to see who starts in the post for UF and what will be the rotations/combinations of players will be like:

    C: 6'10" 250 Horford/Harris ---------------------6'10" 230 Harris---------6'10"250 Horford-------
    PF: 6'10" 220 C.Walker/Murphy ------------------6'10" 220 C.Walker--------6'8" 212 DFS-------------
    SF: 6'8" 212 DFS/Robinson/D.Walker -------6'8" 180 D.Robinson-------6'10" 220 A.Murphy-------

Next season, Florida will have very good size in the front-court with either Horford or Harris; there won't be anyone undersized at the center position. UF will also have the luxury of three talented SF's with diverse skillset that can play either the 3 or the 4:

    - 6'10 220 Alex Murphy (could be the best passer of the group; still don't know what kind of rebounder that he is)
    - 6'8 180 Devin Robinson (#20 rated player who can shoot it from outside or take it inside; very often, the game comes easily to him; could be a future PF with the Gators)
    - 6'8 212 Dorian Finney-Smith (SEC 6th man of year; nice upgrade of Yuguette's ability to rebound at the 4; will have to improve finishing at the rim & develop a mid-range game)

I would like to see the 6'6" Devin Walker keep playing some point guard and get matched up against some of the taller opponents on UF's schedule (i.e, Kentucky). Even playing a tall zone with D.Walker at guard would be awesome.

Horford played nine games in '11-'12. Eli Carter played seven games last year and was redshirted. I want to say the decision to redshirt is based as much on a deadline as the amount of games played, but why wasn't Horford redshirted his freshman year at Michigan?

in fifteen minutes. He could easily become a double - double guy for us because Donovan knows how to coach the big boys!

With just Harris & Walker, Florida has two athletic players similar to the '06-'07 Florida teams with the ability to protect the rim, rebound and dunk (i.e, play above the rim)! With the addition of Horford, Florida also has the physical post player who can box out for rebounds & also score in the post similar to Patric Young/Chris Richard. They are now deep enough to withstand some early foul trouble inside.

The Horford family likes short first names apparently: Al, Jon.

Please don't put your eggs in the Harris basket. It's 50-50 at best.

Awesome! Addresses an immediate concern in frontcourt depth, we get a grown man with significant NCAA tourney experience, and we don't tie up a scholarship with a project player who may not pan out, giving us another spot to grab a talented big in the stacked 2015 and 2016 recruiting classes. Win-win all around.

I disagree with the Yeguete comparison...he is far more developed offensively. He'll get those type of minutes though.

Fantastic; I'm quite certain Billy can use him more effectively than UM did.

That experience should be a tremendous help to our front court.

I presume Billy reassured him that he (Donovan) would be coaching at UF next year.

What Brad said. Everything says go with him having been back with the team and practicing since sometime in February.

What Jon did against UK with his 14 minutes:

BENCH MIN FGM-A 3PM-A FTM-A OREB DREB REB AST STL BLK TO PF PTS
    Jon Horford, F 14 3-5 0-0 0-0 2 1 3 1 0 0 0 2 6

Jon will get more minutes per game with UF than he did at Michigan:

Though I doubt he has the slightest bit of intel, for someone so constantly negative about all things UF to give it that high of a percentage makes me feel pretty confident

Awesome pick up. Wow, We certainly can't complain about big's next year.

    lets see Harris 6-10, Walker 6 - 10, Murphy 6 - 9, Horford 6 - 9, DFS 6 - 8, Robinson 6 - 8

Wow - When was the last time we had that much height in the lineup?

    Mf2 is 6-4 - Francis is 6 - 4 D Walk is 6-6 Graham is what - 6-6? Carter is 6 -2

I know our point Guards are short but so what. I love athletic length and this team is going to have it.
I'm not sure if Murphy can run the court but Horford sure can.

Billy's got alot to work with this summer / fall practice.

I can't help but be excited about next year. Hill really came on, sure he didn't have a great FF game but
so what. Kasey is gonna be so key, man if he has the kind of season I think he is capable of he might
approach double digit assists a game next year.

If he's half the scholar his brother was, it would be no problem getting into a grad school at UF, even if he wasn't a basketball player. The other assumption we can make is that he's a high character, team-first kind of guy. He wants to be a Gator even though the Gators didn't want him out of high school.
