A lot of mentions about Joker being promoted to OC by next year if things don't get any better. I know he failed as the Head Coach at UK but before that, he had a lot of success as their OC from I believe 2005-2009. Anyone have a quick way to look up the UK offensive stats during those five years? Seems like the team had a lot of success, went to bowl games (and beat FSU in one of them,) and I remember that 2007 team with Woodson at QB when they beat #1 and eventual MNC LSU and almost outscored our Tebow/Percy squad a week later. Would be curious to see where they ranked in the SEC and nationally during those five seasons in things like scoring, total yards, etc.

Do we have a Woodson, Burton and Little on our roster? Not to mention Kentucky's offensive line?

    Kentucky offensive rankings:

    2005 - 108th in total offense (89th in scoring)
    2006 - 25 (43)
    2007 - 15 (16)
    2008 - 106 (87)
    2009 - 93 (69)

FWIW, 2007 was Andre Woodson's last year IIRC.

what top assistant would leave their current job for UF when they know everybody could be fired that year? Most top offensive assistance are also in the running for head coaching jobs.

I volunteer. I will run the spread option and KT gets 400 touches a game. Every route is a slant route. We play 8 linemen. Put me in coach

Promote him now. If things improve dramatically extend him.

....If they do not improve, hire someone else in the offseason. Things cant get much worse this year, and Joker might breathe some life and help salvage the season.

OK, so really the only two seasons that they lit it up were Woodson's JR and SR years, the other three seasons were pretty bad. Still, Joker has proven that he can put together a high scoring SEC offense and I wouldn't mind seeing him get a shot.

Give pease woodson, Burton, Little and a good Ol and he would put together a pretty good offense as well.

Believe it or not, coaches tend to get a lot smarter when they have great players. You think Spurrier got stupid after Danny, Ike, and Reidel left, then got smart again in 2001?

As a Kentucky fan, although I like Joker, I'd probably lean towards encouraging you to find a different OC. Even in Jokers good year, he would often default to hyper-conservative playcalling once near the goal line.

Maybe this is a personal problem, but I'll never forgive Joker for losing the Tennessee game in 09. Down 6, in the final minutes of the game, Randal Cobb led us all the way down the field (as QB). 1st and goal, Cobb gets pulled for Mike Hartline. We dont' score and UT extends their winning streak to 25 games over UK. Cobb was in the game as a receiver for the final plays - but never touched the ball. He WAS our offense. There is no excuse for that. Think about that. You guys have seen Cobb in the NFL. He played for Kentucky!? 1st and goal against a team UK hadn't beaten in 25 years and he doesn't touch the ball. Even more inexcusable when you consider he was a capable quarterback at the time also.

At a school that regularly had less talent on the field than the opposition, Joker was too conservative - choosing a playing style that only works if "yours are better than theirs..." Maybe he'd actually be in that kind of position at Florida (definitely would more of the time at least). But having seen the griping from many of you this year, I dont' see Joker as a significant change from what you've got going on now.

I hope I'm wrong because I definitely like Joker.

Put up a side by side comparison of Pease's and Joker's years as UK OCs.

Careful what you ask for, this board has been known to turn on a coach in a hurry. I know, I've seen me do it.

I think installing Joker as OC is a good idea. Pease has been here a year and a half and hasn't shown any improvement (AT ALL) with our offense. You can cite star players as the reason Joker was successful, but at least he HAS shown success at this level. For half a season, I'd like to see Joker take over. I can guarantee you he can provide a gameplan outside of having our less talented RB's run straight into the offensive line twice, and then a five yard out on third down.

Move joker to OC to finish the year, fire Pease immediately. Then go find a good up and comer OC for next year and beyond.

Why would I not believe it?

And why would I think Spurrier got stupid/smart at those times?

The best we can do is get Kentucky's fired head coach as our new OC? How far we have fallen....This can't be a serious suggestion. I would think if we get rid of the former Leg Humper, we should look to raid certain Baptist School in Waco...
