They have no ability to defund Obamacare. They are holding the government hostage in an attempt to relegislate it.

This sets a terrible precedent for DC moving forward.

Republicans, at least the fringe ones, can't seem to get this through their head. It's as if they can't picture the Democrats doing the same thing in the future. If we head down this road, nothing is going to get done in Congress unless 1 party is in total control.

Democrats can't get it through their heads that absolute gridlock is better than the CR status quo (thanks again, Nixon)..

Would that we had "total recall" of all elected officials, from top to bottom.

Or at least, a vote of confidence / no confidence, with resignation to follow.

    Better system, IMO.

Just wait until Democrats hold the economy hostage over universal background checks and magazine limits for firearms. I bet all the Republicans who think this is such a great strategy blow a fuse when that happens.

Here's a little quiz for you: How many shutdowns occurred during the Reagan administration?

This is completely false, the president has already gone on record saying he will not negotiate. There is blame on both sides, but a majority of it falls in the lap of the president and Reid. The public is not fooled, look at Obama's approval ratings. Our liberal media can cover it up anymore.

Gee, he won't negotiate to harm his signature legislation? Yes, how unreasonable of him.

Boner is stopping any vote in his own house to reopen without striings.

Just to keep his job as speaker of the house.

Meanwhile business is stopped over a single issue.

Our own Citrus industry and Ag in many states are paying the price
so Boner can keep the only job he cares about

Correction: He won't negotiate with a gun to his head. He already negotiated on the amount of the CR which is below sequester levels and is the number Boehner requested. He couldn't produce his end of the deal however because the TPers in the House already had a long standing plan to shut down the government. This throws into question Boehner's leadership and whether he can produce anything he promises. In any case, you don't negotiate with extortionists or they'll do it again, not to mention Boehners hasn't offered anything other than doing his job. What's in it for the president? Is Boehner promising gun control or immigration reform? Hell no. He's got nothing.

do you believe that if you post this enough it will make it true. maybe try clicking your heels three times and see if that helps.

0 and little man reid have had months and months to negotiate. they said they would negotiate in the past and never have negotiated in good faith. their idea of negotiating is to tell you what they want and you accept it and thank them for being so generous.

this my way or the highway confrontational environemnt is due to one person and his name starts with 0. he set the tone, laid the groundwork, and now wants to blame others. he is a classic passive aggressive narcissist

He won't negotiate period and that is why we are at a standstill. The Repubs have already said they are willing to negotiate. Obama keeps playing his ridiculous "I will negotiate after we open the government" card. He must think the Repubs are stupid or he is just plain stupid.
