The republicans keep talking about how unhappy the public is about Obamacare. They ran on repealing Obamacare in the 2012 election and that was the chance for everyone who was unhappy about this law to vote democrats out of office and vote republicans in giving republicans the white house, senate and house majorities needed to repeal Obamacare but the republicans lost the white house and the senate. What do elections mean if the minority party can be allowed to force its agenda through government shutdowns and threatening default on the national debt? If Obamacare is a disaster and causes the economic harm so many on the right are so convinced that it will the democrats will ultimately pay for this at the polls right?

The words compromise and negotiate keep getting thrown out but there is no middle ground position. Republicans basically want the ACA to be done away with, or rendered ineffective (which is what would happen if the individual mandate were delayed). The Democrats are/were never going to agree to either of these things.

    Fred Barnes: The President's Shutdown

And for those who don't know Fred Barnes, he's a Fox News guy and the editor of the neoconservative magazine The Weekly Standard. So yeah, it's completely surprising that he wrote a scathing assessment of Obama...

    Fred Barnes

Frederic Wood "Fred" Barnes (born February 1, 1943)[1] is an American political commentator. He is the executive editor of the news publication The Weekly Standard and regularly appears on the Fox News Channel program Special Report with Bret Baier. He was previously co-host of The Beltway Boys with Mort Kondracke, which previously aired on the Fox News Channel.

The shutdown, provided it lasts less than 2-3 months, will not do "grievous" economic damage. That's leftist hyperbole.

Most of the government is funded when you factor in military, air traffic control and other essential services that aren't affected.

    LOL

This isn't John Boehnor's shut down.

This is Obama's and Harry Reid's, lock, stock, and barrel.

There are enough Republicans who are willing to vote for the "clean" continuing resolution that the Senate passed that it can pass the Senate, but Boehner won't let it come to a vote.

"Clean." Wonderful euphemism for lack of Democratic compromise.

Exactly! RINOs and Dems are the voice of reason these days......the TP has hijacked the government of this country for their own agenda. Doesn't fool the American people.

The dems agreed to the fiscal number the pubs demanded in order to get a CR (they were apart by $100 billion or so). The house still won't vote on it.

According to a CBS poll 76% of Americans want Obama to negotiate with the republicans, something he refuses to do.
Doesn't sound like it is Boehners shutdown.
People need to pay attention to someone besides Reid, Pelosi and Obama and know what is really happening.

Reid told Boehner he would agree to "duscuss" tax reform if they would pass the senate bill - fat chance he would EVER agree to any changes
