My friend have you been drinking early? Couldn't be farther from the truth. Comfort is all about sin, judgement, Hell.....all subjects you'll never hear O'steen even acknowledge.

I mean with regards to the larger point made in that video.

    For-profit evangelism is for-profit evangelism.

I'm sure Mr. Washer lives in a double wide trailer.

OBOB, here's an entire "anti-O'steen" teaching that Mr. Comfort is best known for. Years ago Wilkerson (I believe) found it so powerful he had it piped in to over 30,000 preachers at one time Long, but worth a view by every Christian. Might help if you watched the O'Steen video first.

His teaching is commended by John MacArthur, Ravi Zacharias, David Jeremiah, Joni Eareckson Tada, Josh McDowell and many other Christian leaders:

Again that "cloth" is not specifically the content of his evangelism, but his modes and methods.

Glad you made that clear (but I had already responded). Comfort lives comfortably I'm sure but pease don't compare him to Joel who preaches the ultimate prosperity gospel. Comforts origins in the U.S. are street preaching in MaCarther Park which is full of homeless drug addicts, often physically attacked, hardly a recipe for wealth.

We'll agree to disagree, then. I believe his approach is less important than the sincerity brought to evangelizing. In this sense I believe the two analogous.

Not sure what the problem you have with his modes and methods. His ministry is all about exposing the false gospel being preached in too many churches today and encouraging Christians to share their faith "biblically".

I've been attending Presbyterian and Methodist churches for the last four years. I 've heard the words "hell, judgement and sin" mentioned exactly "zero" times. Well, maybe "sin" a few times but never in conjunction with hell & judgement.

Can you imagine the reaction O'Steens congregation would have?

Five years ago I went to a one day workshop by Comfort/Cameron & crew at a large Baptist church in Ft. Myers. Had to be 5,000 people there overflowing into the community hall.

There was NO collection, no appeal for $$$.

Hopefully you'll watch the first (and second) video.

Neis, would you explain the Gospel to me? Honest request.

Market segmentation exists in TV evangelism too, I guess. Comfort's message works because Osteen's works too.

I've seen Comfort at my neighbor's church before. He had a minimum audience set (which is why my neighbor invited me), a book table you had to pass through to get to the front where the love offering thing was happening.

He came off as extremely disingenuous, superficial and very Osteen-esque. My neighbor's wife told me he was also staying at a hotel at the church's expense that was $400/night.

I was not impressed with the man nor what he preached that day.

Not to cast stones because my religion has enough of their own problems but that whole megachurch scene spooks me.
