Any team that goes undefeated will get a #1 seed.

Kansas probably has as good as resume as we do if not better. We would definitely get some consideration since we beat them, but their losses are better and unfortunately the Big 12 is a better conference than SEC right now.

As a side note, I would take that bracket RIGHT NOW and book my trip to Dallas...

If we continue to win, the #1 seed will come.

Seriously. Orlando pod, then Creighton and Wichita St. in Memphis?

I agree with everything you say (especially the part about taking this bracket), but I disagree with one thing.

Putting our resume next to Kansas, we should get the 1, especially with the head-to-head win.

The only possibly better placement would be as the 1 seed in that region, or maybe where Zona is.

I think the only thing I disagree with is this.

Kansas - Great SOS obviously, but 2 more losses, and a loss TO us.
Wichita - two less loses, did worse vs like opponents, and weaker SOS.

So basically...somehow Kansas can jump us despite us proving we're better because of SOS
And wichita is ahead, despite a lack of great schedule and us being better vs the same opponents...is ahead because of wins, which the Kansas jump shows mean as much as schedule.

    Logic makes so much sense.

Good thinking! I think right now, the committee would give us the nod over Kansas.... JMHO though...

Way too early yet. Can't talk about No.1 seed until we make it through the KY & Tenn away game week.

I would rather be the 2 seed in that region than be a 1 seed with a team like Kansas, Duke, Mich, Michigan St in our bracket as a 2 seed.

People always claim seeding doesn't matter. Yet one seeds have won more tournaments than any other seed. 1-3 seeds have won 12 straight titles. And only 4 teams past a five team have been in the final four for the last I think 11 or 12 years. Seeding matters, it'skind of a myth created that the math really doesn't back up. I mean at some point things aren't coincidence are they? Sure at least three one seeds have to lose, but the most likely chance is that one of them doesn't based on history. Now..it also helps to not be in a bracket of death(stealing a soccer term) as well though.

If Wichita State is a #1 seed, whomever gets the #2 seed in their region should be considered the 5th #1 seed. Taking nothing away from Wichita State, but their schedule is not good. And the Shockers, while experienced, just won't be as battle tested as the other top seeds.

As an Arizona fan, looking at this bracket, I too say where do I sign up. The only issue I have is SDSU as a #3 seed in the West with Arizona. Yes, we beat them in San Diego already, but wouldn't want to face them again in Anaheim. Lots of talent and Fisher can coach.

    I agree.

One of the things I think people overlook (when they're only focused on the seed number) is the specific path in front of each team to get out of their region. These paths can end up laughably different at times.

Doesn't the committee try to avoid early rematches like the plague? As I recall, they don't want favored seeds to face rematches or conference opponents until the regional finals.

Reminds me of Uconn's tough path in the West back in 2001, playing San Diego State and Arizona in California.

NCAA said they are getting rid of that since starting this tourney, teams are truly going to be placed where they are on the S Curve

Very interesting. Help me out, though, with the S Curve.
