Ι don't necessarily mean implementing the full spread option, but elements of it that take advantage of the quaterback's running ability. If you have to account for the threat of the quarterback running you are at an advantage.
On the OL, I personally like us to go back to a zone blocking scheme for our running game, since we cannot muster enough roadgraders for the straight ahead blocking scheme they are trying to run. Three step drops and quick slants/screens tend to hide the OL deficiencies and nullify the blitzes.

Isn't Brown a senior? It feels like he's been here since Rex was the QB

TM doesnt have JDs talent but JD doesnt have TMs aptitude for reading a D or decision making. JD reminds of Xavier Lee. Great athlete subpar QB. It goes to show that QB recruiting is the hardest thing to evaluate. Followed by OL. Hope he recovers well. I do think TM will start in 2014 with JD as his back up. I do agree with baseball being his best pro option. He has a zero to slim shot at playing in the NFL.

I can't wait to see what JD looks like after the season of watching and learning. A real coach developing him and motivation to get his reads right and we may see a new guy out there. Lord knows he has the physical tools.

I agree most of it (you comment) though I do think Murphy is the preferable qb (overall)... just imagine how good he can be if the o-line improves. JD needs to improve with his spit decision making and runs... both are as close as we can tell but give TM the edge. It gets pretty obvious so far. Just love how TM scrambles and runs! That is just we need with the awful poor o-line. Can't wait for the much better o-line - that's the big key, obviously!

So I really think it's preferable for JD to reshirt next year since we do have TM (barring injury) for 2014.

I dont really see a difference between the two is reading defenses. Tyler is not going through his progressions that much and he cant do the pre snap reads correctly so they are making the calls from the sidelines now. By the way they are calling the game and doing other things one might actually think Jeff is better at it

Jeff has a much better shot at making the NFL than the MLB. He has the talent to play in the NFL nobody even knows if he has the talent to play in the MLB. He hasn't picked up a bat in 4 years

I would agree with this. I think both are capable, but I think TM may take better care of the ball, makes good decisions and and very athletic, not as big as JD. But without improved OL play they're reduced to running for their lives.

Driskel didn't lose to Vanderbilt at home.

Murphy single-handedly threw the game to the swabbos.

    Murph getting worse

Murph checked out of the play call on the 1 yd. line to the option play that was disastrous, even Halpio was curious about that check.

I see that the more Murph is coached up as the number 1 QB, the worse he gets.
My fear (partly tongue in cheek here guys) is, what will these coaches do to our newest savior QB recruit Grier once they get a hold of him?

I guess when you have an inept coaching staff, the more they coach the worse players get.

Yep, Murphy's digressing since he's been getting first team reps. Maybe he should skip practice for the rest of the season.

This matches what Dooley said in the article over on GS but according to Franz, the play came from the booth. Either way, that one play did it for me.

How about the run up the middle for no gain on 2nd and 30?

No we don't....., but there is a reason that Murphy was a back up, clearly.

If either of them are the starter next season expect more of the same..., just sayin'.

Or the punt on 4th and 30 with 6 minutes left. Even Les Myles didn't do that last night down 21 Showed me we'd rather lose by not more than 17 than try to win the game.

This. People can talk about the "good ol days" of Jeff that never existed all they want. That doesn't hide the fact that the guy can't play QB. There's a reason why his job was basically to not screw up when he was the starter. That said, Murphy was awful yesterday and Pease has got to go.

I literally LOLed at the comment that said Driskel would win us the SEC next year or whenever the hell. We will never win anything of significance with him as our starter. We can only hope that Grier pans out.

The truth is we'll never know what Driskel was capable of due to our crapulent coaching.

I think you are giving Tyler waaaayyyy too much credit for his pocket presence. I agree he is better there, but I can't see any other facet of the game where he is better than Driskel.

I would take Driskel running this offense right now over Murphy any day.
