The trip is booked. Here is some of the itinerary.

We are going to try to hit up a baseball game. I wanted to check out Shinjuku Golden Gai (bar scene in Tokyo)
Anyone have a Karaoke bar they recommend while there? Any other places you suggest in Tokyo and Kyoto.

Flying to Beijing on Sunday and leaving on Thursday so we will be there 3 full days and 4 nights. Any suggestions besides the Great Wall.

Looks like we are going to the Hanshin Tigers game in Osaka. We were told its better than going to Yomiuri Giants...

I visited Kyoto several years ago and had a great time. I would recommend to anyone. And I would love to return to Japan one day - great culture.

Visiting Kyoto next time I am in Japan. Also going to go to China and possibly Seoul if we can squeeze it in.

I think you'll have a good time. After our conference, a co-worker and I traveled around the city on the subway system and took a few tours. We actually walked back from a temple tour - took us about an hour - and we were able to see a bit of daily Kyoto life. The locals were nice to us. My friend knew a bit about Japanese culture and has always been into swords. He spent about an hour in a sword shop and the owner treated him like he was special. He was practicing with the swords in a courtyard and had the time of his life.

The only problem was finding an ATM machine that would dispense us money. Everyone of them were in Japanese so we had to feel our way around them. One of the locals spoke a little English and we were finally able to get money through a machine in the post office. Overall, it was a great adventure.

Gator Nation is everywhere! I will post more about my trip later, but it was one of the best experiences of my life...
