13? For a total of 26? That’s what i think
I'm of the school of thought that we should sign the absolute max that we can. If that's 26 then great. If our administration would allow us to over sign I'd be all for that too. The kid that's asked to greyshirt, blue shirt, whatever...know the risk. They understand that they're being asked to hold off for a year until they can join the team.
Jarez parks grayshirted for bama a year ago and as of the day before the clemson game he was allowed to PRACTICE (only) with the team but not play in the bowl game.
"Parks was the No. 91 overall prospect in the 2017 cycle, per the 247Sports Composite, as well as the No. 7 weak-side defensive end and No. 17 Florida native."
What other school could get a top 90 overall kid to grayshirt for a year? A kid that could get a Scholly ANYWHERE....
Well, I imagine he was still well compensated considering where he went.
I seem to recall his situation being somewhat tentative on NSD. Wasn't he in Europe, tweeting or social media-izing somehow? It seemed like he didn't have a committable offer or another component to his commitment that made it unclear if he was really offered a ship or talked his way into one. I cannot remember exactly.
I think it came out very close to signing day that Jarez didn't really enjoy playing football. It was almost as if he'd rather be doing anything else. There may be other issues that I don't recall but that was one of them.
If 25 is max we can only sign 12
Not at Alabama, at least in 2017,but what did Parks have to do, enroll at Bama on his own dime for a semester and then get a scholarship this year? I'm still not clearly understanding the greyshirt process.
At Alabama there is no such thing as your own dime on the football team. You are clearly not understanding the Alabama process.
Thanks for the visit lists and analysis guys.
Kid was incredibly overrated and overplayed his hand. Didn't have the options he thought he did and got stuck on signing day. Also had some rumors that hurt his stock
he worked at the local Ford dealer and made 20 per hour
I thought it was the Dodge dealership.
I think Coach Mullen will only sign more than 22 kids this year if some +1s want to join. Otherwise, at 22, plus 6 returning suspended plus 4 transfers, that's 32 new faces on the team, which is really quite a lot.
I agree with you. You're absolutely correct. 32 kids is very close to the total amount of kids that we had on the roster to end this season at under 60. Absolutely remarkable that we were that low.
Per the new rules, you can only bring in 25 per year no matter if they are HS, JuCo or transfers. Grimes and Jefferson count against the 25. In addition, we signed 13 in the early signing period. So, that leaves a maximum of 10 more.
Per rivals looks like Quay moved his OV date to 2/2.
He’s going to UT 1/12.
The weekend of 2/2 just became even more important. Lots of big names that weekend.
Was that 20 dollars per hour or 20 Ford's per hour?
Good. I'd rather get the last visit.
Anyone know if we made the cut for NPF's official visits?
Unless Mullen and Crew are Absolutely Incredible, I continue to say most likely 9 or 10 more for 22-23.
If more sign, I think it's a really great sign for the future of Gator Football, because Mullen, Hevesey, Gonzalez, Grantham all know what it takes to play in the SEC, so, they won't likely sign any kids like those that Zook signed so many of to fill the class and it's national ranking.
