    Thoughts on him?

I personally have liked what he has done at Vandy for quite some time now. Seems to do a lot with less and is coming off a win vs UGA, something Muschamp has failed to do.

If push comes to shove and Muschamp is indeed let go, do you think Franklin makes a good fit at UF where he will have more talent to work with? Just wonder if we could do better, but he has discipline over his team and HC experience and some top school will most certainly snag him.

I like Kingsbury too, but he has less experience.

After so many consecutive years of getting less with more, the idea of getting more with less is very attractive.

1-4 in the SEC just this year. Very impressive. Sounds like a home run hire to me.

i mean the fact he won an SEC game at Vandy should warrant a parade.

He comes to Florida and improves that a couple of games, Hungary and the half dozen others should want him fired game 6 into his first year.

This is my concern. But then I can't help but wonder what he could do with five star athletes. What I like most about him is his disciplined approach and control he has over his team.

I don't think Vandy is as bad as everyone thinks.

Bobby Johnson spent a good decade building it up and I think Franklin is continuing that - pulling some key surprises in recruiting, coaching well.

They had a top 30 class in 2012 and a top 20 class this last year. This isn't going to be the same old Vandy in the coming years.

I haven't watched his team too much and in one of the games I vaguely remember some questionable in game decisions. Maybe there is someone on this board that has watched him more in depth to know what he is about.

I just don't know if there is a home run hire out there outside of the main people everyone comments about. So no matter who that coach is, it will be somewhat of a risk.

Well, about 4-5 of his players just got kicked out for rape and trying to cover it up. I like the guy too (he is the coach of my alma mater), but that doesn't scream control over a team.

He coaches at Vandy, he's not going to have an undefeated SEC record.
But he is beating teams with more talent than his team and recruits very well. That is lucrative.

Franklin is no Petersen, the obvious choice.

He's but didn't be cooperate with the investigation and suspend the players right away? I was surprised to hear that story, too.

And by discipline, I should clarify. You don't see any bonehead penalties from his ayers on the field and always seems to be in control during the games I've watched. You'll get to see what I'm talking about this weekend.

I wanted Petersen after Meyer promptly left. I agree, he should be at top of list. Not sure he would leave, though

Franklin could be good. I don't see him as any guaranteed success story, but he does recruit well and represent himself well.

Unfortunately for him, he'd immediately go from coaching one of the least penalized teams in the SEC to the most penalized team.

Oh ok. My bad...yeah they do seem to make very little in game mistakes. It would be interesting to see what he could do with the athletes he could get at UF.

Six million a year might pry CP loose from chilly Idaho. He's far too talented to spend his whole career there. Get him NOW before USC or Texas lure him away.

Peterson should be a good choice but he isn't going anywhere.

Briles is probably the best fit for Gator fans' desires. Not sure he'd go anywhere either.

Maybe Malzahn? He'd have to feel pretty good about working with Florida talent in the offense he likes to run.

Strong would give us another defensive coach, who'd need a strong OC to balance him. I'm not sure he'd want to leave the school that gave him his break to go back to the school that passed him over.

I'm not sure there are any coaches we'd really want, who'd really want us... besides the guy we have, who I am convinced can become a great coach and deserves another year to show it with a reasonable roster.

We don't want Franklin--regardless of the score this Sat. We don't want Kerwin Bell either--we've got our coach.

I think there are several promising candidates out there right now. Also not sure how exactly you are convinced on Muschamp. He made me not convinced

Petersen is never leaving Boise and I thought everyone had accepted that by now. He has a great thing going there - good money and little media pressure.
